Define the 'foreseeable future'. 1 year? 3 years? 10 years?

What is 'enough'?

What games do you want to play on it?

But really, the answer is: Yeah, sure. It's a decent CPU for most games, especially with a decent GPU. If you can afford a faster one, then get a faster one. If the 10400 is the best you can afford and will get you the GPU you want along with it, then get that. There's nothing wrong with it.

Since buying a graphics card is really expensive these days and the ps5/xboxare nowhere to be found. I have looked at some prebuilt pc’s for my gaming needs and I am wondering if a I5 10400 is enough for gaming in the forseable future?

It is a fine CPU, especially when paired with a decent video card. The integrated graphics are fine for low-end games, but I would definitely keep my eyes peeled for a video card.

One of the most cost-effective ways to acquire a video card and processor is to buy a prebuilt with the OEM version of the card preinstalled.

You may want to check out some of Dell's XPS systems, like this one here.https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/desktop-computers/xps-desktop/spd/xps-8940-desktop/xd8940ms05s

I have a system powered by an i5-10400 and it runs fast, cool, quiet and is 100% reliable.

+1 anecdata, same experience here. Had intended to build an AMD box but availability guided my hand. Very happy with my intel-based Plan B (and I'm a sucker for the underdog :D )

Yes, it's a great current option for a six core. I typically recommend it over the 3600, as it's availability is more consistent, and goes on sale quite frequently.
