That's actually not true, as I discovered when my wife died back in 2021, at least where I live (Canada).

The dead have the same right to privacy that existed when they were alive. I needed medical documents for life insurance purposes, and even though I was her next of kin, because she had not left a will naming me as her executor, I had to petition for letters of administration to be able to access her medical records.

It probably didn't help that you were already recorded deceased, zombie. I also would not expect to be recognized, either.

My humblest apologies for my miscommunication. I failed to get across that I intended it entirely tongue-in-cheek, not ridicule. I assumed that it was obvious that I was playing off of your chosen handle and referenced my own and that it did not require an emoji to drive home that intent. I was just being a silly non-player character.

(More edits: Ahhhh, "I also would not expect to be recognized, either." may not have been received as referencing my handle... yeah, balls, very much my bad.)

Yeah, I'm the jerk who has to hold myself back from saying "where did you see them last?" when someone says "I lost my (partner)"... but one time they actually were playing hide and seek at an anime convention!
