Here’s Audi’s next Q7 SUV and US-only SQ7, now with an RS V8

Not a fan of the front end look. Doesn't look like an Audi to me. No real buttons? No hybrid option? I'll pass.
Going back it looks like a Hyundai or Kia to me in the front. Which is pretty funny since it’s usually them copying Audi.

But here we are in 2026. I kinda like how the tables are turning honestly.

The exterior design looks more like a Kia than an Audi. I'm not sure what that means for either company.
I think this is a pretty on-point observation. My dad owned a first-generation Q7; he owned it specifically because it cut a more wagon-like, rakish profile, and because it looked and felt different than anything else in the segment at the time. This is not that, on several levels.

Audi in general seems to not have any clue what buyers want from them these days. They're just sort of listlessly following trends, the vehicles are bland and unremarkable unless you go for the RS models, the styling is generic and overwrought, and they seem to have no real idea what to tell buyers they bring to the table. Split headlights? Sure, why not, trendy, right? Cupholders? Bitches love Stanleys, make the cupholders fit a Stanley. Why should you own a Q7 instead of an X5? Uh...."because Audi is building on an extremely strong legacy in the premium SUV segment. The third generation of this successful model proves a versatile companion – equally at home in a packed business schedule, on relaxed weekend getaways, or on long road trips."

The olive wood is fucking choice, though, gotta say. Love that grain pattern; I've got a couple of knives with olive wood handles.

Yeah because working stiff living in apartment can afford 40K+ EV and now has to pray they find reliable charging at gas prices.

Then the cost of specialized shops and proprietary components to repair.

VS ICE where you can buy an 80 dollar alternator and have it installed for 80-100 bucks or do it yourself.
For someone whose username references our easy connectivity to more or less all of human knowledge, you seem to have taken advantage of remarkably little of it.

"All those parts that go bad on an ICEV that aren't on an EV are at least things you can drop a few hundred bucks on to get replaced!"

Weird flex, but ok.

Bro I drive a 2012 Mazda 3 Skyactiv. A remanufactured base Duralast alternator is $439.

TF out of here with that lol.

No physical climate controls, no sale. Having the consolation of a volume knob and hazard light buttons is a good start, but not good enough.

Absurd that more countries don't have laws about having a certain amount physical control options in cars. You shouldn't be fiddling with a smartphone or tablet while you drive, how is an infotainment screen any different?

Have you heard of rockauto?
I have! It's about $100 cheaper for a new Delco, which is considerably better, but it's still not the $80 that was hallucinated earlier by the guy I was replying to.

NGL, I forgot about them lol. It's been a while since I needed to replace anything larger than a battery. About as long as it's been since I stopped delivering pizza...🤔🤣

So what exactly is the passenger screen for? It looks like it has all the same stuff I'd expect to find on the center screen. So is it just a repeat of what's available there but in front of the passenger so they can...play with a copy of the map without distracting the driver?
they can duplicate the center console map, or watch youtube or play games, or watch movies. The screen's anisotropic so the driven can't see what the passenger's watching.
It makes no sense as at the moment you can't even assign a distinct audio out to it. You might as well buy an iPad PRO and an Airpod Pro/Max have a better screen experience and still save money over the 3 screen thing. Just like with the physical button thing, OEMs still didn't realize that people don't want more screens, especially when it interfaces with Audi's legendarily bad Software.

Thanks.

The ONLY useful situation I can come up with is allowing the passenger to watch a sports broadcast. As the driver, the play-by-play and commentary would be fine to listen to and the passenger can get the added visuals. But as a passenger myself, it'd just make me sick so it wouldn't be any benefit to me.

Does seem like a solution in search of a problem.

What's the point of fancy turn signals in an Audi? The driver's never going to use them!
Found a brand new way to be annoying by projecting the turn signal on the road, extending 1m away from the car, in diverging directions, in a move that definitely won't confuse anyone else on the road.

everything is rounded. Where are the sharp defined lines???
If you meant "where are the aggressive rakes", you might be on-point. This is depressingly blocky. As it is, I wouldn't say the Q7 (or even SQ7) has ever been known for it's sharp, defined lines. Quite the contrary. A Lambo it ain't.

I will say, in fairness, the "double-bump" induced between the bonnet and wings does it no favours in achieving a clean-line look. But that's somewhat a side-effect of them trying to chase the "make the front-end so tall you can hide a small child up to 20ft ahead of it" trend.

I'd be quite happy for this to stay a US-only design.

There's one function I'd be interested in that I've heard BMW might offer. An HDMI in. I could totally use a second screen in the car while I'm working at charging breaks

Hmm, I thought it was a more a copy of the latest BMW and Mercedes front ends in their large SUV lines.

They are losing the "Audi look", and that tall wall-like front end is one big reason why. Gross. Mercedes started down the "smoothing out" trend about 10 years ago and now their SUVs look like obese, bloated walruses. I sincerely hope Audi doesn't go down that path. I will never own one, but at least I want cars to look nice when I'm stuck beside them in a traffic jam.

The context here is a $70k++ SUV. V6 or V8-powered.
The people who can afford to waste that much money buying a brand-new fast-depreciating asset, maintaining it at Audi dealer prices, and fueling its sub-20mpg operation, are not going to have too much trouble charging an EV when it finally becomes the only option.

Good intentions ; terrible hill you're picking for the fight.

I live in a neighborhood that is rife with Audis, Mercedes, BMW, and many exotics, and at least 90% of them are leased and get swapped out for new models every 24-36 months. The least exotic cars in the neighborhood are Tesla Model Ss and a couple of Grand Wagoneers (and then there is us, with our Chevy Bolt, LOL). If they send their Audi in for service, they drive a loaner from the dealer and don't give a damn about the repair costs because they are under warranty.

You have to be crazy to own a late-model modern luxury German SUV or sports car out of warranty, anyway - they are almost impossible to service outside a dealer due to the software, licenses, specialized tools, and access to parts that only dealers have.

Great, it has the same dash as the Q3, which is the same dash as the A5, A6, Q5... virtually every new Audi.

At least that olive wood does look a lot better than piano black and the screens appear to be better integrated as opposed to just slapped on. Doesn't change the fact that you're still getting basically the same dash as a 30k cheaper Q3.

And still waiting for the logical end to all this. A 5ft x 3ft screen and the complete removal of the front windshield. :p
