Just learned that Stir of Echoes was actually written before the Shining by Richard Matheson who just happened to be Stephen Kings biggest influence. That makes it so much more interesting to me. Really enjoyed it anyway but wow that changes the way I look at it.
I will have to rewatch knowing that now (also I've forgotten it except for starring Kevin Bacon and featuring Rolling Stones' "Paint it Black" and "Hello" by Poe.)
I remember watching it and thinkin, wow what a rip off. It was still decent, and Bacon is always generally solid in his roles, but that copycat shine thing really messed it up for me on first watch. Definitely a different feel once you know that it is the other way around.
