This may be an unpopular opinion but I just don't understand the hate against Gwyneth. She's conning people who are rich enough to afford a $75 candle and stupid enough to fall for marketing that borders on the ridiculous. She doesn't even try to hide it. I assume that most of her customers buy her products just for the sheer absurdity of it and not because they actually believe in the benefits. She's smart enough to cash-in on her brand image and market to the rich rather than the poor.

If she were profiting by conning poor people that would have been a whole other matter. But it is difficult to feel any sympathy for the type of people that she markets to. If her customers are happy to pay for her ridiculous products, why should anyone else have a problem with it?

I know someone who suffers from an untreatable medical condition which is annoying but not that serious in the great scheme of things. She will fall for any scam if it seems to offer the prospect of a cure. And is always disappointed...but there's always a next time.
People without science degrees who don't understand how this all works are always liable to fall for these scams. For every rich bored person, there's likely to be a poor person desperate for help with a condition. And the with costs of medicine in your country, the threshold for spending money on scams is set high.

Chiropractic 'practice' though...gets a lot of acceptance pretty close to the mainstream. Anyone going to make a case as to why this shouldn't be treated in exactly the same way as the other stuff?
There's a problem with Chiro and Fysio. It's fundament is rather shaky and the quality of practitioners is all over the place. Indeed, two practitioners will almost certainly have different opinions on treatments, which is a red flag in my book.

There are good fysio's and chiro's and there are downright dangerous ones. Many of them are just harmless. Sadly it's you as a patient who has to find out which ones are going to be beneficial as there's no common standard whatsoever.

What on Earth are you on about? In the UK physiotherapists are a recognised and regulated profession. The conditions they treat can be vague but they do not use woo in treating them. On the three occasions I have needed them, treatment has been successful. It would be rather coincidental if something that had been worsening for a couple of months or more started to improve within a week of treatment beginning. The one my wife uses will refer people to consultants if she believes conditions may need operation or injection.
Chiropractors however...I refer you to British Chiropractic Association v Singh

Only thing I disagree with is the thought that including the vulva as part of the vagina is the equivalent of a 13 yr old’s knowledge of sexual anatomy. Especially given that is how it is referred to in sex ed, by parents, teachers and the media. Huffington Post even did a whole piece on it

Sorry, the general public uses vagina for the vulva. You may not like it, you may wish people to have a better understanding of proper anatomical terms, but they don’t. Criticizing everyone who uses it that way is kind of stupid, especially when society as in general has decided otherwise.

If society in general gets to decide what is science and how to use its terminology, we may as well forget about countering AGW because we're doomed anyway.

I didn’t say that, I said criticizing non-scientist individuals and saying doing that is the equivalent of a 13 yr old’s understanding of sex is disingenuous. Especially given that is pretty much how all of society terms it. And we’re not talking about a world altering thing, we’re talking about how we refer to organs colloquially.

hoo hah. Happy now?
