Google Glass will speak to you by vibrating the bones in your head

Having used various bone conduction headsets for years mostly from Motorola, I can say that they give fantastic crystal clear audio, tho without the range you need for a good music experience (do-able but not great)
It is definitely usable in a normal-medium ambient noise environment, with the added benefit of still letting you hear what is happening around you, that's a massive win. In the town I used to live in a road construction guy was backed over by a steamroller when listening to his ipod.
As to comfort, they are far far better than having buds in your ears (I hate buds) and the pressure required is insignificant, it's less than wearing a hat or glasses.
They are the perfect solution for this device in every way, the glasses are not meant for playing media, which is the only area bone conduction doesn't completely win.

as their neural nano particles wrap themselves around your cerebral cortex.. no need for me to wear big brother googles to inform big G where I am, what I see, say, and whomever else is there. sheez. what was the benefit of wearing the big G on my head again? oh, ya, i nearly forget again, I'm the product, the Glass data collected is owned by the big G. :)

I suppose wearing an aluminum hat over my googles would violate the terms of big G's end-user agreement. :) ha!

So it won't use a neural link? Step it up, Google.

Just what we need, yet another connector type. Soon your USBrain connector will be outdated and new products will be switching to HDMInd, except Apple with their typically proprietary iSynapse connector.
No, no you got it wrong. The iPhone is just the test run for the truly revolutionary eyePhone.

Head phones are a more than adequate solution for this problem. The bigger challenge is a display that won't wreck your depth perception or make you look like a gomer.

I have always wondered, what's the sound quality like with bone conduction? I've only ever experienced it as a demo at a science center when I was a kid.

Very bad.

But I suppose they might be better than the tiny drivers squeezed into a small HMD. Quashed by any $100 headphone easily, though.

They could use micro-armatures to generate sound, but that would be too expensive for mass production.

I have been waiting for Google Glass for a LONG time. I think its going to be great. The only part that is going to be different for me is that I have never had to wear glasses for a prolonged period of time and it could take some getting used to. While the people that have worn glasses have been trying to get away from it for a long time by going to Contacts and Lasek. It will definitely be interesting to see how this aspect affects peoples attitude toward the Google Glass.
