It takes itself a lot less seriously, as evidenced by all the dad jokes used by Prometheus and Zeus.
...only one of whom had a decent Greek accent. The guy voicing Zeus was "hahrrible" as Woody Allen would say. I enjoyed what I played of it a lot, although I noped out of some of those underground vaults or whatever they're called. You have to have the reflexes of a mid-teen on his third energy drink to even have a chance when having to fly through a gauntlet of falling boulders and sweeping laser beams. I'm about 50 years too old for that.

Damn. That looks fun… but Ubisoft is the most hateful couch gaming experience because of their bullshit launcher and constant updates. Ugh.
I think I played the Switch version, and it didn't have a separate loader, much like any other Switch game. If you want to play it on PC, that's probably different. The IP has been abandoned, so I don't think there's going to be lots of patches to the game. Patches for the launcher are a different story :(

I have a couple abandoned assassins creed games as well as Rayman. They work just fine (aside from the neutered online features), but the fucking launcher *always needs an update.

It always prompts for UAC as well, though still works if you cancel it. Tried installing it outside of Program Files but can't figure out how to stop it.

Yup. I tried forcing the shortcut to launch with Admin rights also... cant avoid it. Its a hateful piece of shit.

Wish I could figure out a workaround to launch Rayman without it.

FWIW, the standalone installer for the launcher lets you install it outside of program files. In my experience, this vastly reduces how often the launcher needs admin access. Any Ubi games installed from steam should then use that instance of the launcher.

The caveat here is that some older games still demand admin access every time you launch them, regardless of where the launcher is installed.

So program files is considered a protected tree by Windows. When you update applications installed there you will need to confirm changes. Changes to files in that tree.

In other words, it is normal behavior
It's normal behavior, except I still get it even with the launcher installed to c:\games\Uplay and games in a subfolder there. I've given up trying to figure it out.

Also other installers (like steam) don't ask for admin access at all, even when updating in Program Files. I think they change the properties of their install folder during initial setup (which might be against Windows best security practices) but makes life better for end users.

I'm also one of the lucky few who haven't ever really had launchers acting up. One time the Xbox/windows store got messed up when I tried to reinstall windows without formatting the disk and the permissions on the Xbox games folder were messed up, had to reinstall windows for that one but it was basically my own fault. I don't play any Rockstar games though, just Epic, Uplay, Steam, Xbox (which forces Blizzard on you), GoG Galaxy and even the EA App (RIP Origin!)

Black Desert is once again free on Steam.

Played by over 20 million Adventurers - Black Desert Online is an open-world, action MMORPG. Experience intense, action-packed combat, battle massive world bosses, fight alongside friends to siege and conquer castles, and train in professions such as fishing, trading, crafting, cooking, and more!

Just Ignore Them is free on Steam. Indie horror adventure with 600+ mostly positive reviews.

One night can feel like a lifetime of pain, suffering and horror to a child...do you have what it takes to survive the night? Play as an 8 year old child who is tormented by monsters in his house. Your choices make his future which lives can be saved or ended.

One Gun Guy is free on Steam - mixed reviewed, indie 2D-action platformer, that can be finished on normal in about 45 minutes (I just missed a few hidden areas, some that I know of).
I enjoyed the game for what it is, a homage to the action platformers of the late 80s/early 90s. It's responsive, graphics are fine and colorful, the controls are hard-coded to arrow keys (movement) and A/S (jump/shoot) - just the music is a grating short loop that is better replaced with whatever you spin up.
For a free experience right now on Steam, it's absolutely worth adding to the library, and any retro gamer should give it a try for sure.

One Gun Guy is a straight forward no nonsense action platformer, one giant level littered with player upgrades, hazards to tackle, enemies to destroy, a boss to kill, and multiple difficulty settings.

It looks a lot like classic Mega Man. I added it to my library. Thanks for the heads up!

In case you've been hankering for any Ubisoft titles or DLCs for them, the Ubisoft store has a $10 discount on your shopping cart purchase of 20 or more. so even if you buy two DLCs that each cost less than 20, but total more than that together, it applies.
I'm considering AC Shadows myself. $24.99 after the discount right now. Or I can wait. I have eleventy-million other things to play / finish after all.

For those who haven't yet bought the Phantom Liberty DLC for CP2077, it's down to $20.99 on both Steam and GOG.

For the handful of people who don't have NMS yet, you can get it for $24 bucks on Steam or perhaps less elsewhere for a Steam key. Other space games going for cheap, Spacebourne 2 (a very ambitious indie) for $13.99 and Starcom: Unknown Space (top down space adventure) for $14.99.
