Fubo pays $3.4M to settle claims it illegally shared user data with advertisers

So... all this PII is still in the hands of the advertisers, right?

Where in the settlement does it say that Fubo needs to hand over all the details of the companies and individuals they sold illegal personal data to so they can be prosecuted as well?
Where in the article does it say that they actually sold personal data?

ETA: The reason I say this is because the statement by the accuser just asserts that they sold it, but they don't indicate that they have evidence of it. We've seen other lawsuits like this recently.
There are a ton of sleazy companies doing this and Fubo could be one of them, but I'd like to see at least some specifics before assuming it's true.

You can't convince me fubo is a real service
"Have you seen the new show? It's on Tubu. It's literally on Heebee. It's on Poodee with ads. It's literally on Dippy. You can probably find it on Weeno. Dude it's on Gumpy. It's a Pheebo original. It's on Poob. You can watch it on Poob. You can go to Poob and watch it. Log onto Poob right now. Go to Poob. Dive into Poob. You can Poob it. It's on Poob. Poob has it for you. Poob has it for you."

Just kidding Dippy is a real but it's an AI slop service and reality is worse than my bad joke

From their February shareholder financial report: "Fubo delivered North America ad revenue of $114 million for FY24."

So they make over $100 million from ads, and settle for $3 million. I am sure that will show them and everyone else! What a deterrent!
This needs some GDPR style fines. 20 mil or 4% of revenue, not profit, which ever is higher per violation.

Though I wish the EU comission would actually start dealing out fines like that and not just threatening... (I know the article is about US, I can read)

Personally, I think we need a precedent that collecting a person's location--be it through geolocation based on IP, GPS on a mobile, inferring location from nearby WiFi signals, or whatever--ought to be disallowed without a user's explicit consent for ALL web sites and apps, not just video sites.

And I further think that requiring such consent as a precondition of accessing a service or features of a service should be disallowed, except of course for services which need it for a technical reason (e.g. to provide turn-by-turn driving directions in a mapping app or to show you nearby locations on a retail website).

Where I am when I access your service is none of your damned business.

What's amusing is that the law they used appears to be one inspired by shenanigans carried out by video cassette rental stores. Kudos to the law's authors for writing it generally enough for to be used whenever you "rent" content. Fubo was small fry (though they're big in a small space - regional sports networks); let's see if any enterprising lawyers can apply it to bigger (and more lucrative) fish.
