Of course these guys are less the shadowed hackers lit only by the green glow of their old-school terminals and more the leads in Dumb and Dumber; anyone with intelligence who gets fired is going to turn in their gear, accept the termination terms or challenge them via lawyer, and never, never so much as glance in the direction of that network ever again

Bloody hell I know Teams has crap UI as in I misclick and hit leave meeting instead of the share screen button (seriously Microsoft who thought that was good placement? and yes I’m an idiot and have done that a few too many times for my liking) but it is pretty bloody obvious a meeting is recoding via icons and pop up messages. What a pair of eejits 🤦‍♂️

Teams Copilot's meeting transcription feature likely improved prosecutors' productivity.
(I believe "Company-1" has a Microsoft 365 Copilot subscription.)
It compiles conversations and automatically summarizes deadlines and responsibilities. While Copilot's reputation is mixed, I'm always impressed by the capabilities of its Teams transcription.

eesh that is painful to read. How did they ever get hired in the first place?
If you have ever been contacted by corporate "head hunters", you would realize how easy it is for them to miss EVERYTHING. I have been contacted over a dozen times, each one telling me that they found the perfect job for me, which I had have never requested. The punch line is that when I always turned them down every time with "not interested", their invariant response was ALWAYS, "do you know someone else who could be interested in this position?" That is the extent of their "checking". They found someone who wanted that job.

I understand that from head hunters but not employers.

Hopefully they will be old men by the time they come out, long enough to learn to speak more eloquently.
Given that they both spent time in prison for cyber fraud and not only deleted all those databases, they also (accidentally, but still...) recorded themselves doing so...

They could spend decades in prison and not learn a damn thing. I'll bet they end up in prison again after they serve their sentences for this.

The hiring manager screwed up, and is himself "no longer with the company".
I wonder what the story is there. Honestly forgot to background check them? "Forgot" to background check them for consideration. Or did background check them, but ignored it for consideration from the two.

Since both got hired I'm assuming he either didn't check anyone, or was bribed in some way that the cops didn't think worth prosecuting.
