Rather than continue to derail the Final Fantasy Record Keeper thread with discussions of Brave Exvius, I figured I'd start a new thread.

Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is a new Final Fantasy based mobile game. It was released in the US on June 29, 2016 and was in Japan for about the last 8 months or so. If anyone has played Brave Frontier, this is heavily based on that game but with a Final Fantasy skin. It's free-to-play with microtransactions, similar to its sister title, Final Fantasy Record Keeper. In FF:BE, you create a party of original and returning Final Fantasy characters and go and fight battles in dungeons, level up equipment, explore towns, etc.

Because it has just released, they're giving out lots of free game currency along with the ability to summon more powerful characters from different Final Fantasies. For example, right now I've got a party of Sabin, Edgar, Terra and the 2 default characters.

My friend code is 417,799,129 if anyone wants to add me.

Currently Rank 13 and my "Roaming Warrior" is a level 40 Fran. I am farming Awaken mats and just need 3 Heaven's Ashes and I have no idea where they are.

Did my first Awakens on the main characters and they go back to level 1. Unpleasant surprise there.

Once I awaken Fran I will switch my Roaming Warrior to a great 4-star WHM.
I sent you a request but you've reached your friend capacity.

Also added everyone (except one person with a full list, can't remember who). I'm 960,442,076 and have CoD as well.
Yeah, explore mode seemed cool when I first started but they seem to take too long.

Spungy, you are my favorite friend. Your characters just tear up stuff for me.

BTW, I wish they would have made it clearer on the summon screen that (at least on iPhone), you have to swipe left/right to get to the other summon screen. I was pressing the arrows and nothing was happening and I couldn't understand what people were talking about mentioning "using friend points to summon." I assumed they meant that it used up friend points when you brought a friend along in the dungeon with you.

I ended up using all the cactuars + the other non-playable turtles to get my levels higher. I assume that's all these two types are used for, similar to growth eggs in FFRK? I know that you can fuse duplicates to get 5% trust, so I've done that with several characters as well.

Oops. So far I haven't needed much gil but I imagine that will change a bit in the mid-game before becoming a complete non-factor in the end-game based on pretty much every FTP game I've ever played.

Gil will be needed. You use it on enhancement, items, creating and awakening. Pretty much anything. That's why this weekend is a good time to take advantage of the Gil event that will appear.

Also, from the new characters appearing tomorrow, it seems Chizuru is a great one who will have a 6* form and Kefka is good for its Trust Master reward(Ribbon!).
What I meant was I assume that at some point in the game, I will experience a gil squeeze where I have a lot of things that require gil and that after that, I will be sitting on millions and millions and it will cease to be something to worry about. To take an example from FFRK, about 3-6 months in, I was literally broke in game since I was busy upgrading everything. Now another 6 months in, I'm ahead of the curve so barring some massive gil sink, I expect it to never be an issue again.

Mister E. Meat":37md0jtk]I tried to do the Hill Gigas quest recently and had no luck. I think I spend about 40 stamina (which I know is not all that much but it is 10 runs) in Grandshelt Castle - Throne Room and didn't see a single one. Are they really that rare?

Doesn't the text from that quest mention the Coliseum?
It's the guy from the Coliseum that challenges you but the wiki said that the throne room was the place to find them. I actually just found my first, not in the throne room but the stage prior.

Ionitor":30f7r414]For those that have maxed out some of your characters, I'll point out that you can set on of your parties as your "Friend" party in the options. This effectively sets the leader of that party as your permanent shared character (until you change the leader in that party). I don't think it's anyone here necessarily, but I've been seeing a lot more high ranking people sharing someone that they are clearly working on leveling rather than their best character.

You can also do the same for the arena, so you don't have to remember to change your party to use up those points.
I had done this already for the friend party but thanks for the reminder about the arena. It came too late for me and my party of lvl 3 Rain + level 35 Kefka.

Speaking of mage parties, I'm pretty much ready for them with a 2 Kefka, Terra and Rydia. On top of that I have Fran who sort of fills that role + can heal.

As someone posted on reddit I think, the vortex missions are really just a way to quickly burn your stamina. That's what I've been doing during the work day with the XP vortex for the 30Kish XP but if you've got the time to spare to farm the exploration maps, they're generally better across the board for materials, XP and gil.

I'm having a really hard time with Colosseum Bgn-A3 - the fight against Mahadeva. Unlike in the World part of the game, you can't cheese him with a phoenix down to auto-kill him. As soon as I got the Graviga-like Heartless Angel on Kefka, I thought it would be a cakewalk with his HP down to 25% but it looks like that doesn't work on him either. For those of you that beat it, what did you do?

Don't go to the FFBE subreddit unless you're ready to deal with tons of angry folks. To be honest, it does seem like Gumi is far less generous with their game than say FF: Record Keeper. In the last month alone, FFRK has given its users something like 50 mithril just for logging in plus had events that gave out about another 60 or 70 for playing and beating content. That would be like giving out 10K Lapis at least.

I'm probably not going to quit and I'm definitely not a whale but I have thrown a few dollars here and there to FFRK which I have no intention of doing here. I've got no problem grinding in a game - a lot of my time in FFRK is now spent running dailies - but the grind in this game combined with the way they seem to be treating their player base is not promising for a new game.

Same. I haven't even opened BE in a few days. I definitely don't have the hang of Mobius yet though. I keep losing fights now around Cornelia castle.

Gungnir888":lk9ra15z]I'm starting to maybe understand Mobius.

Your character is a job + weapon, and 4 cards which are the abilities.

The cards increase in strength by leveling outright. The cards also have experience gain stats (the seeds) a primary ability level, and secondary abilities.

Level is increased by use or fusing cactuars.
Seeds are unlocked by fusing (maybe the same element?)
Primary ability is increased by fusing cards with the same ability.
Secondary abilities are unlocked at semi random through use.

Every job accesses three elements (this may change in the future). Shielding with one element increases the generation rate of the other two elements.

Auto is a much better player than I am.

I'm most of the way through chapter 2, and I can't honestly say I know that everything written is correct, but I've been able to progress without using any of the limited draws yet. I did a few maxed skill card draws. Once the new jobs come out next week, I'll burn my rare draws and decide if I want to continue with the game.
I've gotten and agree with pretty much everything you wrote. I just learned earlier today about the secondary abilities. My issue has been dying on the bosses so I either have to use a phoenix down or retry from the beginning. I imagine that I should not be dying so much in chapter 1 but maybe I'm wrong. I ended up using about 3 PD to finally get to chapter 2 where things seemed even harder. I've unlocked and gotten about 1/2 the second job panel for warrior and started with unlocks on ranger. Right now I'm not sure how I'm weak, i.e. is my deck poorly constructed, are my cards just too low level, should I be farming to try to increase my 2 and 3* card abilities (which seems really tough to do)?

On the iPhone, it's a constant crash fest. I mean I can usually get through a vortex of desire stamina burn but anything other than that is just constant crashing.

Oh good, then it isn't just me. iPhone 6S Plus here.
6 Plus here, so maybe it's the Plus that's a problem?
