<em>Duke Nukem Forever</em> is back: coming to both consoles and PC

Gearbox Software has officially taken over development of <em>Duke Nukem Forever</em>, and the game is scheduled to come out next year on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. Hail to the king, baby.

Some folks are gonna Daikatana it when it comes out.

Others are just gonna enjoy it for the simple fact it even came out.

I'm not expecting Half-Life quality here, but if they could produce something like a video game version of "Machete", it would be pretty cool.

However, pigs may be flying, but my hopes are not up there with them.

If the release slips into 2011, we won't exactly be shocked.
Given that the article stated the following:

The game is currently expected to ship in 2011
I guess I wouldn't be shocked either if a release date "slipped" to its, uh, expected ship date.

Granted, everyone (even the WSJ -- "although given its history, Pitchford is understandably reluctant to be more specific.") is in on the joke at this point. But it probably would have been funnier if the Ars article had used 2012 rather than suggesting that a release of DNF would "slip" to its announced shipping timeframe.
