Dealmaster: Labor Day discounts on Steelcase chairs, LG OLED TVs, Lenovo laptops, and more

For anyone that spends long periods working at a desk, a high quality commercial office chair is one of the purchases. The price of the Steelcase may seem excessive but they are built like tanks and will easily last 10+ years. My brother has a 25 year old Aeron that he started using 22 years ago and it still works as well as it did new. Moreover, high quality seating can be adjusted to perfectly suit your sitting position. I personally hate gaming chairs. IMHO, they are overpriced for what you get, become uncomfortable quickly, and unergonomic.

True. And with more people working from home (even if you split your days), it definitely pays to buy something decent.

Though on gaming chairs, it comes down to what exactly you are buying. IE, Herman Miller literally has a "gaming" version of their highest end chair - I would expect it to last just as well as the regular version. The problem is so many companies selling super cheap crappy chairs with gaming "styling" at a markup.

Wholeheartedly agree. You're right that they're built like tanks. I got a Steelcase Leap when I started a new job and I sat in it for five years and it still looked brand new when I left that job. And it did that while being incredibly comfortable.

Though I will say, office chairs are something worth trying in person. I don't think every chair works for every body. For instance, I don't love the way the Aeron feels when I sit in it.

While I agree, you can also find refurbished-to-new (or like new) of these exact chairs for several hundred dollars less, from companies that purchase liquidated offices’ stock. My employer does this and saves quite a bit on Steelcase and Herman Miller chairs, including several of these models.

Now I just want $2K spare to get a nice chair like that for my setup. Not everybody can afford these new, so look for used office clearance sales, warehouse sales, etc.

I find it quite funny that the photo is simply credited to "Google". So is it just a rip from a generic Google search?
Google is the manufacturer of the Google Pixel. So it’s likely straight from Google’s product page or press photos. Same as Steelcase is listed as the photo credit for the Steelcase chair photo.

Commercial grade office chairs definitely worth it for the long-run.

Buying used is a great way to go if feasible.

You should be able to get parts for these chairs which helps mitigate the risk of buying used/not having a manufacturer warranty.

But in reality they commonly last for more than a decade with zero issues.

Leaps are great chairs. I need a knee-tilt so went with the (unfortunately much more expensive) Herman Miller Embody, but I think most people are fine with synchro-tilt.

+1 the idea of actually sitting in these chairs before buying if possible.

Ditto this. Love my steelcase gesture - got it right as the pandemic hit and have used it every day since.
