Anyone have the Samsung Neo G7 43" ???

I am forever addicted to 43" monitors, but my current LG tops out at 60Hz and the back lighting is....well, its crap. I play a lot of games in addition to coding in my free time so would like to get some feedback from anyone here that may have one and has some thoughts on it.

Or, if anyone has something similar with a higher refresh rate, please share your thoughts.

It's a VA monitor with mediocre pixel refresh rate so you'll get smearing in games which is very noticeable. I have an Iiyama G-Master VA 43in and it has the same issue. I tried using it for PS5 and PC gaming and it was very distracting especially in darker games - Diablo 2 was a prime culprit but even in games like GTAV it was happening. Text clarity can also be an issue with these larger panels even at native resolution though mine is ok sitting about 2.5 feet away.

Eventually I got an LG 42 C3 Oled which blows away the Iiyama in every way but it did cost me almost twice as much so that was expected. I wouldn't use an Oled for regular PC work so I use the LG for gaming and the Iiyama for everything else and that works really well.

Just saw an updated video review where the testing for smearing was apparent (that damn UFO test everyone does) but the reviewer reiterated over and over that in games it wasn't present. Hence me asking here.

Not at all convinced yet that OLED is suitable for office use yet, unless burn in has been proven to not be a thing with newer panels. So trying to stay away from those for the time being.

I guess the only way to find out is to buy it from somewhere with a reasonable return policy! I read a few reviews on reddit from people who had purchased it and said the smearing wasn't a big issue but I'm skeptical unless it's significantly better than on my Iiyama. It's one of those annoying things that can't be unseen once you see it unfortunately.

Apparently if you switch off the local dimming it reduced the problem significantly but then contrast and hdr will be a lot worse.

Another option may be to get one of the Samsung 42 inch mini led tv's that will have better gaming performance but then you lose DP and probably the ability to auto switch off the tv. Plus they tend to be a lot more expensive.

Oled I agree is not yet ready for office use - unless they throw in a free 5 year burn in warranty...

My daily office screen has been a 48” OLED since June of 2022. I have no burn in at all. I’m sure it’s not as bright as new but I don’t notice a difference.

There aren’t any benefits to my office work on OLED but it’s awesome when I have free time to play a game.

I picked up one over the holidays. Best Buy open box for $300. Insane value. First 4k monitor for me. I saw the same video you did. Primarily used with Xbox Series X and ARC Raiders. The game looks fantastic. Secondary use is a "TV" so the kids can stream shows. I know the OS can get some hate and yes, it is slow at times. But this absolutely ticked all the boxes for my use case. I love the smart tv features. 2 birds one stone for me.
