And the best tablet in the universe is a Surface Pro.... who are you kidding with that ghetto iPad stuff made for 4 year olds. You can't be the best at something and have the least amount of applications.
Windows doesn't have good mobile-style apps, or didn't when I last used Windows. God help me! I used Windows!!!

"World's best tablet" would be more meaningful if it had any competition. Or even anyone who was trying to compete.

I guess the main competition is...existing iPads. If it was just about other tablet manufacturers, Apple would hardly need to bother updating things. Thankfully they need to persuade people to upgrade at some point.
Samsung makes good tablets, but they're not good for music, and are only modest for art.

It seems to me that a lot of the people who buy mobile devices without 3.5mm jacks are just using the speakers, instead of bothering with Bluetooth pairing, and having another thing they have to recharge. It used to be that the assholes on public transport were the ones with leaky headphones. Now, they're the (comparatively) considerate ones.
For music (creation) bluetooth is useless. The delay is enormous.

The USB-C move is great for those of us fed up with carrying a whole assortment of cables but the lack of 3.5 mm negates that advantage for me. Typical Apple, give with one hand, take with the other.
The lack of a headphone jack is pretty confusing for me. If you create music on the go, you need to use headphones.

Do lightning (now usb-c) headphones have better DAC than old iPads? My suspicion is not typically.

Maybe a solution would be a case manufacturer including basically a USB-C dock in the case.

Does faceID work in the dark? My friend with an iPhone Xs says it doesn’t. People use these at night in dark rooms, like their bedroom when they can’t sleep. The fingerprint reader is fine in the dark.

Also, I’ve seen her kids try to open her phone by shoving it in her face. On multiple occasions. Parents really have to deal with this stuff.

I think apples products would be considerably different if Tim Cook had children. Apple doesn’t understand well what parents need.
It's supposed to work in the dark.

As others have said, this is a winner...once you can hook a mouse up to it. Wake me up when that happens.
If app programmers (or Apple would make a big deal about it) would make it so the pencil created selections like a mouse would then the pencil would work perfectly well as a mouse replacement.

I'm wondering about the multiple Pencil 2 situation. Some artists use multiple Pencil 1. If I'm reading this correctly, Pencil 2 pairs when it's stowed in the magnetic charging side (also, did anyone notice how Apple said you could hold it any way? but the charging port is only on one side. With no home button, it could get confusing, trying to find which side to put your pencil on). That sounds awesome, but if you have two Pencil 2, won't that mean you can't use your extra while the other one is charging? And there's no indication Apple will be selling a charger.

Any idea if the Pencil 1 works with the new iPad? Since it pairs using Lightning, it would require an adapter to pair.

And I still think this magnetized side thing is going to be a problem for case makers, and people are going to find the Pencil 2 gets broken much more often, knocked off.

I don't think Apple consulted with artists on this one. It will sell well, and it's nice, and there's a really decent chance I'll be getting one. But we all know that artists would have preferred two holes for stowing 2 pencils. It would have also been nice to have seen rotate added. While some people will like that tap feature, I'm sure lots of people are going to turn it off, and hope and pray their favorite software doesn't force them to use that. Having a button there is one of the most annoying things Wacom ever did (with the bad palm rejection touchpad being a close second). The reason is that anything that breaks the flow is bad for art.

Apple stocks down 7%, supposedly due to lackluster iPhone sales. I would have thought the reason would have been due to the absence of a new product announcement or novel feature (for example, since the back of the iPad is so huge, it would have been possible to fit a 3D object scanning system, based on the one they use for FaceID).
