Video footage shows him just after stepping on the escalator is when the escalator stops. He has secret service behind him. Melania is in front. She then decides to start walking up the stalled escalator.

Here’s the kicker: there was a working escalator going up as well right next to them.
And apparently it was a videographer of his own entourage that ran ahead and tripped a safety mechanism at the top that caused the escalator to stop.

He was also complaining about the auto-cue not working, which was being run BY HIS OWN STAFF, not the UN.

Once again showing his narcissistic side. Nothing is his fault, everything is done to him, everyone is against him, he gets sabotaged at every turn.

If they have not resigned to forestall being used that way, I am not sure I would bank on those that go not following orders.
There is no such thing as not following orders in the military. It's just not a thing that soldiers will consider. Because the consequences of not following orders are life destroying. Sure they'll be the boot that is stomping the face and they'll have to live with that. But they'll follow orders.

Last week it was reported that Trump's Pentagon was furious about being rebuked by the Pope and summoned a US cardinal to try and give him a dressing-down.

Now Trump is bitching on his megaphone site that the Pope is "weak on crime" and "liberal," and posting more slop of himself as literal Jesus.

Authoritarians typically attack religious institutions that they can't coopt, because it presents a rival source of authority to their own. Trump is too stupid to even be subtle about how personally he takes it that people might like a pope more than him.

Why aren't these journalists seeking comment from notable "Catholics" like vice president JD Vance? Marco Rubio?
Because Vance and Rubio from my understanding aren't Roman Catholic, they're some denomination of (US) "Christian". Those are very much NOT the same thing!

Edit: Decided to actually do my homework. Vance at least claims to be catholic, but seems to be pulling from "integralist" streams in that faith that think the church should come before the state. From what I can find it's unclear to me WHAT exactly he believes, but I get the feeling he's not well aligned with Pope Francis's ideas at the very least.

Rubio for his part was baptized Catholic, then Mormon, then reverted to Catholicism again.
