Streaming games with GeForce Now on Steam Deck is much easier now

Any chance you've played Helldivers through both? I have my deck docked to the living room TV and it works ok for the most part, but occasionally the frame rate just shits the bed or the graphics get super wonky until I toggle between full-screen and windowed-borderless a few times. I'm...

FDA expected to authorize 3rd COVID vaccine dose for immunocompromised

Keep in mind that immunizations were done by state, and they didn't have to follow CDC guidance - what's true for you isn't going to be true for the next poster. In Florida, they didn't open up vaccines for the immunocompromised until a week before the general public was able to get them...

This futuristic electric truck from Canoo goes on sale in 2023

How so? My 2-door Jeep averages 220 miles per tank, and it basically sets the bar for off-road capable vehicles. Yeah, I can pack a jerry can and they can't, but that's only going to add ~30 miles.

FBI investigating identity theft in net neutrality comments, report says

It's a reference to his giant orange Reece's mug, not a prison rape reference:

Captain Cook’s HMS Endeavour found off the coast of Rhode Island

Quality puns like this are half the reason I read Ars. Bravo, sir.

Thrustmaster TPR is the king of mass-market flight sim pedals

Great review, always love seeing sim coverage (I actually bought the Slaw Viper after reading your last review). Have you ever thought about doing a writeup of your whole setup?

Dealmaster: Take 20% off video game pre-orders with Prime while you can

I just looked, and some preorders like the new Spider-Man game are "sold out." Makes me wonder if they're artificially limiting stock to save cash.

Mozilla is “evolving” the Firefox brand, and it wants your feedback

Speaking as a UX designer, icons are the least important thing in the world to me (especially since they don't localize worth a damn). This kind of visual design refresh usually happens when a c-level see's something shiny and declares from on high that their company must adopt it too.

Sean Murray breaks his silence on No Man’s Sky’s development, launch

Just curious, did Ars or any other major gaming site call Murray/HG out on their promises vs what they were seeing prior to release? I remember a lot of positive coverage from everywhere, but not any publications posting negative coverage until after the game went live. I'm only human though...

Halo devs not working on battle royale mode for Infinite

Halo 3.5, aka Halo ODST, would like to have a word with you about it owning the best story, storytelling and dialog.

Court software glitches result in erroneous arrests, defense lawyers say

Actually, Microsoft owns or has a controlling stake in Tyler (I forget which - years ago I worked for a competitor). I'm kinda surprised that wasn't mentioned in the story.

XCOM 2 supports Valve’s Steam Controller but not traditional gamepads

Star Citizen, Elite Dangerous, Mechwarrior Online, Hawken, GTA V (before the console versions existed), and pretty much anything with "sim" or "racing" in the title or tagline. Lots of games do it, it's just rarely listed as a feature.

New data bucks gun industry claim, finds US majority supports smart guns

I honestly can't tell if you're for or against them, as this argument works both ways :D

Lexus, Mazda, and Yamaha wow Tokyo with stunning concept cars

I owned one as well, and after the apex seal blew for the 4th time (while driving it home from the dealership from getting it fixed for the third time no less) at 45k miles, I was done with the car. Their track record in hot climates was horrendous (I live in FL), and the reliability was so poor...

FBI probes man’s videoed death by cops as ethics of posting footage questioned

...or a nuke, or a nuka-cola. The point is there's another video shot much closer that's being described quite differently. Maybe instead of acting like the internet for once we should put down our pitchforks for five seconds and wait for the other video. Or, you know, act like this...

FBI probes man’s videoed death by cops as ethics of posting footage questioned

No, it doesn't - it shows one arm, with the right 1/3 of the victim behind a pole. You can't see his arm or shoulder at all, and a good part of his chest is covered as well. Until I read the story and watched it again I thought the same thing.

FBI probes man’s videoed death by cops as ethics of posting footage questioned

So there's a second video, shot much closer that supposedly shows the victim waving a knife around when shot (as opposed to having his hands up empty): http://www.cnn.com/2015/09/02/us/san-an ... index.html The story also talks about how they initially tried to tase him first but it had no...

Lizard Squad teen gets no-jail sentence for 50,700 fraud, harassment charges

I could really give a shit about the XLB/PSN stuff, but getting probation for swatting someone is crap. He sent armed men looking for a fight into a house for the lulz? Fuck him, he should do some time.

Worth the wait? Inside Kickstarter’s world of delays

I actually wouldn't have nearly as much of a problem with it if they were transparent and honest. The problem is they're neither - one update will promise to improve things, set forth a timeline and a list of folks to get their printers or refunds in the next two weeks, then it's radio silence...

Worth the wait? Inside Kickstarter’s world of delays

Congrats man, you drank the kool-aid. For what it's worth I'm glad you got a printer, but I doubt you got it in the order that was promised when they were sold (backer #134 that was part of the early bird group here and I chose a cold bed - still no printer). In January, they blamed Paypal for...
