Despite hardware limits, Parallels supports running Windows on MacBook Neo

With so many bright color options, I'm surprised they didn't name it Neon or Nemo.

Despite hardware limits, Parallels supports running Windows on MacBook Neo

Thanks for adding this to the conversation; I’m going to give it a try on mine. With only a 256GB hard drive, did you need to install Windows on an external drive? I’m recently retired doing a little contract work on the side and this would be a cheaper solution than buying a second laptop.

A private space company has a radical new plan to bag an asteroid

I just read that back in the voice of R Lee Ermey 😅

A century after the first rocket launch, Ars staffers pick their favorites

I’m newly retired and would love to view a Starship launch. Can anyone recommend how to plan in advance? Thanks!

Apple MacBook Neo review: Can a Mac get by with an iPhone’s processor inside?

Good point. I learned the hard way to mostly avoid first generation Apple products, the M1 MBA being the exception; mine with 8GB RAM still runs well after 6 years.

NASA chief classifies Starliner flight as “Type A” mishap, says agency made mistakes

That was my thought as well, but it didn’t happen on Trump’s shift, so he’ll probably keep his job.

Chevy Bolt, BMW i3, or something else? At $10k, you have lots of EV options

I found a couple RAV4 EV’s in New England, which intrigued me until I read how difficult it is to get repaired and the fact that they’re FWD. It’s a shame because I really like that generation of RAV4 and it would have been perfect for my daughter around campus (she’s driving her mom’s 2012 V6...

Editor’s Note: Retraction of article containing fabricated quotations

Just came to say that as a long time subscriber, I will continue subscribing. Ars is one of the few sites that I trust and enjoy reading. Yes, a mistake was made and there will be lessons learned from it, but I hope no one is fired and that people can move forward. AI has become a way of life...

NASA chief vows to solve SLS rocket fueling issues before Artemis III

As much as I’d love to see this program succeed, it needs to be shelved until a better technology becomes available to eliminate these leaks. Perhaps that day will never come, but this is ridiculous. China must be laughing hard and loud at these delays.

What global warming? What climate change? It’s 14°F in central MA this morning! /s

El Paso airport closed after military used new anti-drone laser to zap party balloon

M guess is someone (fire the staffer!) fat fingered 10 hours for 10 days. It wouldn’t surprise me with this administration.

Apple introduces new AirTag with better range and a louder speaker

There’s a pouch in the sheath that can be used to store accessories like the swappable saw/file on the Surge. I never use the saw, so I stuck an AirTag inside the pouch and a spare AAA battery for the flashlight.

FAA shuts down El Paso airspace for 10 days and won’t say why

Curious if it has something to do with what was just announced a couple days ago: “Following the roundtable, the Governor and Secretary participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the grand opening of a Domestic New World Screwworm (NWS) Sterile Fly Dispersal Facility in Edinburg to combat...

Netflix claims subscribers will get “more content for less” if it buys HBO Max

“When pressed further on pricing, the executive argued that the merger doesn’t pose “any concentration risk” and that Netflix is working with the US Department of Justice on potential guardrails against more price hikes.” Uh huh, we know how they’ll react.

Apple introduces new AirTag with better range and a louder speaker

I have a number of AirTags, one for each key ring, one for my wallet, one for my AppleTV remote and one for my Leatherman. I also keep a few spares for luggage, etc. They really are very useful to have around. I’ll hold off buying any more until Black Friday or beyond, when they’re on sale.
