The Headhunter is great, and I've only used it on a "basic" (less than one mirror by the end of the league) Lightning Arrow Deadeye back in TotA; I imagine if you really lean into it it's even better.

But it has competition, if what we're talking about is the most fun you can have in PoE! My totally scientific ranking:

1. Speed. Movement, action, casting, cooldowns, etc. Go fast.
2. Chaos pops.
3. Wine of the Prophet, because it gives you random buffs all day long, and because it doesn't preclude you from using a Mageblood, which helps with the speed.
4. Headhunter.
5. 'splode of any kind, other than chaos pops, because those are so much fun they even compete with raw speed.

The entry cost for HHs is down to 15 div now, so having never used one before, I picked one up. Nicely enough, I sold a 10 div rare jewel I had sitting in the stash for like a week right after I bought the HH. Anyway, being a first time user of this thing, while not 100% God Mode, holy shit is it funny.
Just FYI, a money making strat with HH is legion scarab of eternal conflict. The monsters keep getting stronger but so do you every time you kill the rares. Eventually the rewards stop scaling but I forget how many times it takes.

I'm running Betrayal right now for Challenge reasons. I've been running the safehouses as they become available, and I don't know what kind of RNG god is loving me, but the five I've run so far have all had Allflame Embers of the Guilded, which sell for a good chunk of chaos. Currently up to 29d/593c. Go me!

I thought the money making strat was buying up those scarabs at 6-8c and selling them for ~50c like some of us did when that patch came out? Then you spend most of your proceeds from that on crafting a ~40d shield for 3-4 times that due to horrible luck.

/me looks at all of my characters that all went idle at the "finish the atlas/get currency" phase of the game
Yeah, I will never have a Headhunter.
I guess the rest of the build might still be an issue if it was expensive, but they're cheap enough this league that if someone who got filthy rich via absurd luck was trailing off on the league and OK with giving away a modest (i.e. not anywhere near Mageblood level) gift of currency to anyone with a reasonable post history and plan for how to use it to get some more fun out of the game, you could ask them?

In other news... that. I'm still double corrupting some uniques here and there, but trying to not destroy an entire market, and I'm a bit less enthused about standard collecting every since they canned the 1=2 compatibility/migration/whatever stuff, so if anyone's staring up at the wall of grinding out many (but not like 3 digits many) divs for something, lemme know (PM probably best) what your plan is and what your IGN is and I'll distribute out some holiday bonus funds.

Aaand I was today years old when I figured out how to modify the number of summons in PoB so I could get a semiaccurate DPS check. Looks like right now (and I still have some upgrading to do) I have 4.8m DPS. EHP is 209,285. This is with the AoE gems - Swapping out pierce and GMP for Vile Toxins and Faster Attacks bumps my total DPS to 6.7m.

One of them was running KBoC - I will NEVER complain about visual clutter again...
The struggle is real. I've switched to KBoC and can't tell what the hell is happening on my screen. It's not exactly an impediment, because either I one-shot the things I run or they one-shot me with nothing in between, but nevertheless it's not ideal.

In fact, Girlfriend Reviews have the perfect quote for this situation (I forget which game they were referring to, maybe Devil May Cry):

"Did you see that?!"

"Well, my eyes were open and pointed at the screen, but the only way I can describe what I saw is 'diarrhea Christmas lights', so no."

Crafted this beaut today - and by "crafted this beaut" I mean "hit it with some resonators until it looked mostly in shape, annuled one suffix and benchcrafted on the trigger".

Edit: Hit post too quickly - it didn't appear to do anything to my DPS, so I checked the configuration tab, and changed the configuration to the one that the build guide used. My old DPS jumped to 12m, my new DPS is now just shy of 20m. Boom.

Guys, I'm afraid we've been doing this div farming thing all wrong. You ready for how to make tons of divs in almost no time at all?

1. Hang out in Global 4040.
2. When some guy randomly asks if anybody has a desert map, grab one out of your stash and offer it to him.
3. Unexpectedly have him drop 9 div and ~200 chaos in your trade window...

If you figure it takes about 1 minute per trade, that's about 600 div an hour. Definitely beats out most farming strats. But it's probably more like the gambling strats, for every guy who gives you 10 div, you're going to have 100 that only give 5c. So realistically you're looking at more like 5 div an hour :sneaky:

The flaw in your plan is that it means you have a public chat channel enabled in poe.
Eh, 4040 isn't bad. It's mostly people trying to complete 40/40, and so the S/N ratio is shockingly low.

In other news, I'm up to 31/40, finished the Oppressive Opponents challenge. Was actually pretty easy, mainly because my single target DPS is almost 30m according to PoB, and I'm pretty tanky to boot. The one bit I'm proud of? Dodging all the fireballs on the Searing Exarch and oneshotting him without portal tanking him. I'm 30% of the way to l100, and I'm not sure if I'll hit that first or the Quantity Quandry first.

Also was following an Abyss which dropped it's final node on a Harby node, with maxed out Beyond on map. My FPS was so low caterpillars had to duck.

I have a pretty rigid rule that I do not expose myself to any public chat in any game (for the last decade or so). When I played WoW back in the day I had everything public turned off. When they introduced forced crafting interaction, I would turn on trade long enough to get my item made if I didn't already know someone who could make what I needed, and then shut it back off immediately.

I get it.

35/40, with the only tough one left being the grinding one. I’ve got 33/75 endgame bosses, 22ish/100 Argus kills, and I’m level 99 with 10% xp. It was more, but fuck drowning spheres in very dark places that are practically invisible. Tempted to just run Argus over and over if he gets within one room of the entry.

I did Echo of Trauma(purchasable via currency exchange) as a boss grind for GGG, but they were 25-30c each at the time. Made ~75% of my currency back selling the junk drops. They're a bit more expensive now, so might not be as attractive depending on how precious you are about currency.

But it's a fast boss, with minimal preamble and no immunity phases. Fairly sure I had the rotation down to sub-45s with zoning.

Level 100 reached. 40/40 challenges completed. My damage is good; my tankiness still has room for improvement (76/85/85 res, CI, 18K ES and evasion), but I can farm efficiently so I'm not too bothered. Now I can start grinding in earnest.

Thoughts:
  • they need to Shift-Delete this new Breach stuff with prejudice. The new boss fight (in the Hive Colony) is pretty good, most of the rest isn't.
  • this time around I leveled to 99.2 on my own and then bought three 5-way rotas for the rest of the way to 100. 39 div in total, money well spent.
  • have I mentioned that I like the bosses in this game? I do. I am the doom at the door! Epic.

So, I might try out a Svalinn for size, and perhaps I will eventually make enough currency to be able to swap to the lightning res stacking set-up -- but after New Year's, if at all.

In case anyone else was like me and unaware of this in POE1 Phrecia League 2:Electric Boogaloo is launching today. Like the first Phrecia League this is short, three week, mini league based on the current Keepers league with different Ascendency classes than normal. Also the map atlas tree has been replaced with an idol system. You can get two free loot boxes for leveling a character to levels 50 and 90.

Link to the league announcement here which includes start and end date/times.

Link to patch notes here.

The idols made for some seriously over the top map strats last time, and I am curious about how the bloodlines can combine with the alt ascendencies, but I just don’t have it in me to commit to a league right now. I really don’t have it in me to do a rehash of the snooze fest that is keepers league either. We went from mercenary which enabled a ton of new builds and strategies to…. wall league with a mechanic that we actively avoided and gutted ground loot.

Sure it is only three weeks, but that’s about as long as a league is for me anyway most of the time.

I need to see who/if there is a gambeler in sector 4. I need to swap all my gear for the real RF skills.
You can gamble items for gold with Faustus, if that’s what you mean, starting in Act 6.

Or you could use the Genesis Tree.

Or you could gamble with Gwennen, or Rog.

Or you could Exalt-slam your best item, as the Vision dictates.

I've just gotten a bunch of gear from the tree.

Also this league is fucking awesome for enjoyable ripclips. The enrage mechanic is kinda silly, bosses do so fucking much damage.

Oh and I've done pretty well I think, 4 deaths and I'm in A9 now. Of course between map mods in campaign and breach I'm overleveled as all fuck so that helps too.

Only 4 deaths? That impressive. I had multiple fights in the campaign where I died more than 4 times.

Hailrake with Also Hailrake.
Brutus with the cold cannons.
Brutus with Merveil.
Malachai with the Maven Brain.
The enraged Crab boss at the end of Act 6.
The Maven Brain with extra projectiles at the end of Act 9.

Of the things that killed me the only thing that got me a single time was an enraged Izaro. Was not ready for the fast leap slam at the start of the 3rd fight.

With the wisdom of hindsight I could probably do a better job a second time through the campaign, but I don't think I would come close to just 4 deaths. The two Maven Brain fights in particular would still be problematic.

It ended up being 5 before hitting maps, I died once on A10 Kitava as well, amusingly at the same time he did.
My deaths were:
1 to Hillock on the beach, he enraged and did a jump attack which instagibbed me.
1 to Brutus with the cold cannons, I had him down to like 10-15% hp but I ran out of flasks and died to the cold balls.
1 to Malachai because the Maven beams didn't actually render, they sure still did damage and debuff me though so I was very confused what was killing me and why my flask stopped working. When I came back in they rendered properly which made it quite a bit easier.
And as previously mentioned on Kitava.
I actually forgot what the last one was.
