The letter argued that "Democrats and leftwing activist groups have repeatedly worked to weaponize" the government against free speech and that the FCC should "help guard against future abuses by Democrats and leftwing organizations by streamlining license renewals and merger reviews and eliminating the news distortion and news hoax rules."
Being impartial is not the same as being neutral. In the UK, the BBC is required to be impartial, as such it's really one of the few trusted news sources here. Enforcing impartiality isn't necessarily bad.
Though in this climate it does seem that this is being politically motivated, so rather than ensuring impartiality, it'll have the exact opposite effect.
The USA is way too polarised at the moment for this work. Even if it was being done in good faith, nobody would agree.
We contacted Carr and will update this article if we get a response. But Carr confirmed to another news organization recently that he doesn't expect a quick resolution. He told Reuters on March 25 that "we're not close in my view to the position of dismissing that complaint at this point."
Millions are cheering him on... even now. This is what they wanted. They believe... little do they know. How is this not Treason? How is the recent administration not Terrorists to the public? I don't see any upholding the rule of law, let alone the Constitution. And to imprison, without due process, immigrants on "Trumped" up charges? I this MY Country? Those that elected these clowns, need the pain of the markets, and "Tariffs".
Golfing while millions lose pension funds, 401K, saving and jobs.
My understanding: Because they're a cable network, not a broadcaster subject to FCC scrutiny under this authority. He likewise can't "investigate" CNN.So explain to me why Fox News hasn’t been shutdown for the 24/7 stream of lies that it produces?
I look forward to Chairman Carr investigating them for distorting the politics of broadcast news.A 2019 study in the American Political Science Review found that "stations bought by Sinclair reduce coverage of local politics, increase national coverage and move the ideological tone of coverage in a conservative direction relative to other stations operating in the same market".[3][4] The company has been criticized by journalists and media analysts for requiring its stations to broadcast packaged video segments and its news anchors to read prepared scripts that contain pro-Trump editorial content, including warnings about purported "fake news" in mainstream media, while Donald Trump has tweeted support for watching Sinclair's content over CNN and NBC.[5][6][7][8][9]
Nah, “aah!” Is in about 45 minutes to everybody’s retirement accounts. We’re still in the opening credits.ahh! Welcome to Monday (sarcasm)!
I may be mistaken but I think Fox is broadcast in most locations. Fox 5 in the DC metro area used to be, maybe still is. Don’t live there anymore.Because they're a cable network, not a broadcaster subject to FCC scrutiny under this authority.
This would be the only silver lining of this whole charade: a future administration investigating the hundreds of Sinclair networks under this policy. My understanding: Because they're a cable network, not a broadcaster subject to FCC scrutiny under this authority. He likewise can't "investigate" CNN.
However, a huge fraction (nearly half) of all "local" broadcast news stations are owned by the right-leaning Sinclair Broadcast Group.
I look forward to Chairman Carr investigating them for distorting the politics of broadcast news.
Seriously, the networks need to be telling Carr to fuck off with this nonsense because it’s a textbook violation of their 1A rights that would likely only have SCOTUS support from the ultra-corrupt Alito and Thomas, who seemingly haven’t met a precedent they aren’t happy to overturn, even when it’s their own.
They are NOT conservatives. Conservatives believe in the rule of law, in personal freedoms. The GOP has moved beyond that.If only he was being honest. The goal is solely to intimidate news organizations who say things conservatives don’t like.
Used tyo. But MAGA doesn’t win withodght this largest block of republican voters. They are NOT conservatives. Conservatives believe in the rule of law, in personal freedoms. The GOP has moved beyond that.
This is a brave new world.
Sorry bud, but conervatives in this country are fascists. You can't rebrand this just because you don't like it.They are NOT conservatives. Conservatives believe in the rule of law, in personal freedoms. The GOP has moved beyond that.
This is a brave new world.
Retirement? What’s that? I’m 55 and figure I’ll have about 2 years of that when I retire at 75…Nah, “aah!” Is in about 45 minutes to everybody’s retirement accounts. We’re still in the opening credits.
This belies the last 30+ years of Republican behavior, but I do love a good “no true conservative” argument. They are NOT conservatives. Conservatives believe in the rule of law, in personal freedoms. The GOP has moved beyond that.
This is a brave new world.
Just yesterday overheard two people talking at the park about how the markets were all down after the announcement of the tarrifs. Then one of them said "well he [Trump] is just doing what's best for America". His supporters have total blind faith in everything he says and does.Millions are cheering him on... even now. This is what they wanted. They believe... little do they know.
