I don't feel old, which is why I am asking. On the inside, I am still a 12-year-old boy who can't believe that people pay me as much as they do for what I do. But the 90's were 25+ years ago.
Same. It's funny. My first 25 years felt like a long time. My second 25 years passed in a flash.

GODDAMIT.

We've an employee who was so good - and our need so dire - that we've been authorized to create a new FT position to accommodate stepping her up. Good for everybody; she's earned it, wants it and we need another FTer getting enough hours to actually gain the experience to achieve full competence in the most complex retail scheme I've been a part of.

She showed her grandchild off to me the other day. Like any other infant, she was impossibly cute. She (my cow-orker, the grandmother) is young enough by any standard to be my child.

That gave me a moment, to say the least. When I explained that moment to her and why I had it, the look on her face when I mentioned my age was priceless. Made my day. :)

++. At this rate I'm gonna go to sleep one day when I'm 58, then I'm gonna wake up and be at the age of 90 going "Wait, what--?" and then I'll be dead.

Yeah, but on the other hand I'd be pretty happy just to have 8 hours continuous sleep without being wide awake from 1 to 3am.

Wait, isn't this supposed to be the thread about things we like?

I really like the cute video of my grandkids my daughter sent over today.

Awake at night sucks.

My 5 mo kid finally just only woke up twice to scream for food tonight. Like it waaaaaaay better than the night a week ago he was hungry and/or itchy at 11 pm and 1 3 5 7 9 am. That was a fml moment, but he usually averages 3 to 4 breaks and we are a bit 🧟‍♂️🧟‍♀️ right now.

One of my favorite ways of making my wife angry is when we're at the ballpark and they have the name and birthday of a new player on the scoreboard. I will say things like "Oh he was born after our wedding, he could be our son" or "Hey look he was born after we even bought the house!"

Either she gives me the elbow or stands up to wave in the nearest Beer Guy.

8lbs of Korean short ribs currently in the slow cooker. 5 hours left on the timer, in an hour or so the whole house will smell delicious.
Update: the house smells delicious. Like cooked pears and ginger and garlic and beef kind of delicious. :)
Which you can't do because your body quit being stretchy a decade or two ago.
While I do need to get more flexible, I have not completely lost my stretchiness. I think a combination yoga/qigong regimen is on the horizon. ;)

Children.

Oct 63, less than a month before Kennedy was shot.

(I didn't do it, I have an alibi).
Toddlers. My parents weren't very creative, so they named me after the sitting president when I was born. Hence the second half of my username. Also, I've never been to Texas so it wasn't me either.

I like being alive, even when thinking about how old I am. Or that I have kids who are 36, 33, and 28. Like, how the hell did that happen.

I do like yelling at people to get off my lawn, though.

Day one of the four day weekend:

I went for a walk and strategically deployed magnetic water fowl around a trio of unsuspecting churches. :devilish: 🦆 .
On that note, I have very few left. But it has taken well over a year to deploy them all. I usually do 2 to 4 at a time, once every few weeks during walks.

I picked up some stuff from Lowes and O’Reilly‘s right as they opened. Did it at the tail end of that walk.

I listened to a fun podcast about Belle Star, which was fascinating. Both the legend and the reality.

I redid the caulking in my shower. It was time. It looks much better now.

I played some vidja games.

I had a chai tea at my favorite cafe and had a fun conversation with a person and their teenager about pixel art, since I was working on some at the time.

Also, worked on pixel art stuff today. For a bit in the F1 thread. It’s going well. The pixel art, not the bit - that’s almost as bad as Logan Sargeant.

I read a couple of chapters in my book - the excellent Storm Before The Storm by Mike Duncan.

I ate some extraordinarily interesting chocolate.

I wrote some, with a new to me ink.

I listened to the majority of the new Walter Trout album, which is very good.

The Kings won. Go Kings Go!

It wasn’t raining, so the little bit of driving I did today was with the top down.

I don’t have to go to work tomorrow. This is unbelievably good for many, many reasons.

Not bad for a spur-of-the-moment decision to turn this into a miniature staycation.

I hate to pee in your Cheerios, but it seems that you're having too much fun. Not allowed.

You've earned the right to do you.

28 isn't a punch list.

28 is a close-enough-to-say-I'm-caught-up list.

Well there's items and then there's items. The nonfunctional antenna is one thing. The nonfunctional speedometer is a bit higher priority. And then there's the Frankendistributor which could jump to the top of the list at any given moment.

But for now, a heater that's not permanently stuck on is a victory I'll take.
