Sprite Something may not be for everyone, but it's all kinds of awesome for those working on pixel-based icon design. Pixel art has entered the 21st century.

Alfonse, i have been waiting for EXACTLY this kind of app to come out for iPad, as a pixel artist I would luurrrrve working on its touchscreen.

Since it doesn't look like it has one, (will buy once my iPad finally comes in the mail) my only big feature request would be palettes... since I have definite restraints in mind.

There is zoom, custom palettes, manual entry of shapes and other updates coming.

@psb I'm working hard on the first update, which includes a palettes folder for adding your own custom palette images.

Also, first update will include Pan/Zoom which seems to be the most requested.

I love this app matt. I hadn't created anything in pixel art for years until I got ahold of this. Now i'm working on a TacRPG you have motivated me so much.

More pixel art tools make the world a better place.

When/if I get an iPad, this is definitely going on it.

This.

I'm not very big into pixel art, but I like playing around with it occasionally, and especially modifying existing sprites. And any decent art app will have a home on my iPad (when I get one, of course).

Why would someone want to do this on their iPad? I can see this as a very useful desktop application, but for the iPad?
Why would someone ask a question like this?

Why do artists have drawing pads when they have a studio? Why do people sit in recliners to do things when they could sit upright at a desk? Why do people use utensils and fingers for artwork instead of mice? Why is it so hard for people to understand the iPad?

Why would someone ask a question like this?
Lack of imagination is my best guess. :)

On topic, this app looks very nice. I'm surprised by the lack of zoom and pan as using other art apps shows it's power to make a fat finger super accurate. :) Glad it's getting put in right away. Something else I'd love in an app like this is a dual layer mode where you make a high res sketch and then put a low resolution grid over it to use the sketch as a basis for the pixel art. I'd love that, and it's not even common on desktop apps.

But... But...

I thought you couldn't CREATE anything on an iPad?

What's that, you say? In addition to a bunch of drawing apps for iPad, there are also a ton of interesting touch-based sound generators, sequencers, etc.?

And I can write on it, too? Even hook up a BT keyboard, so as far as words-per-second, not really any less viable for writing than a laptop?

Surely someone must be wrong, all that stuff sounds like creation?

What, it even allows you to record audio?! Manipulate photos? Now shut up, you're just lying to me att his point.
