killerhurtalot[/url]":n5ghonqx]But why on earth would google put a 1080x720 screen on there with a dual core processor!

Because it's "good enough" for real-world performance -- the benchmarks sure aren't bad and a 720p screen is about all you need to make the pixels invisible at 4.7" -- and you get markedly better battery life by not pumping the phone full of pixels and gigahertz and cores just for the sake of higher numbers on the spec sheet.

Does anybody know if it can output 1080p to an external display? Also, testing this thing with chromecast would be interesting, especially in the mode where it's doing on the fly transcoding of a google tab.

The X records in 1080p. Do you mean output through an HDMI like the Note 2? Hmm...I doubt it since I think that was a mod by Samsung. Chrome Cast plays videos from the cloud, however, so 1080p won't be an issue. Casting from a tab currently only works in Chrome on a computer not the Chrome app on your phone.

Moto X likely either supports MHL or SlimPort. Both HDMI over MicroUSB solutions can handle 1080p.
