    The Rio Grande river regularly floods the basin with "fresh" water. In fact, the Rio Grande is it's primary source. Also, I'm pretty confident the relatively small quantity of water that isn't flashed into steam that ends up in the basin is vastly cleaner than the water from the Rio Grande

    What pollutants? It's fresh water. LOX and Methane are gasses, they won't pollute the water.

    The basin immediately adjacent to the "Bidet" (not sure if I really like that moniker) is part of the Las Palomas WMA. The water level in the basin is widely variable, as is it's salinity and it's primary source is the Rio Grande River, which is, amazingly, not salt water.
