Amazon illegally refused to bargain with drivers’ union, NLRB alleges

You have to wonder if over time, the willingness to skirt the law or brazenly break it in regards not just to labor issues but a whole host of others that affect consumers, is going to lead to a serious decline in society. We live in an oligarchy, and man does it suck.

OpenAI’s Murati shocks with sudden departure announcement

There should be a "canary in the coal mine" thought with regards to the turnover within OpenAI. Generative AI's use cases are amounting to neat parlor tricks, fraught with a huge amount of legal issues, trademark, copyright, etc. A bunch of AI startups with traction are not really offering AI...

Case fans with little LCD screens are the newest way to put lights in your PC

I’ve just done a build that has absolutely no RGB at all. It’s very nice honestly.

Godzilla roars his way onto Apple TV+ in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters teaser

I’m hoping for good things here — Apple TV+ has been doing great lately. A lot of great shows, outside the bubble of what I thought they’d ever green light. Everybody knows Ted Lasso, but I enjoyed Invasion and Foundation is good also, if both a bit slow. I enjoy them for the storytelling.

Amazon’s final talks with FTC unlikely to thwart antitrust lawsuit

I always thought the practices of Amazon Basics was the most insidious, since they used the captured sales information from their vendors, and based on that copied products and undercut them and also ranked them higher in the search algo. It puts tons of small businesses out of business and is...

Reddit makes no apologies, but offers disgruntled mods feedback sessions

You’d think with all the negatives being seen with Twitter that Reddit would learn a lesson. Guess not.

Moving away from LastPass, need a few features and simplicity for the family?

I opted to go for NordPass, which of all the extensions seems by far, the easiest for my kids to use. Keepass would work if the sync capabilities were native, the interface straightforward, etc... but so far Nordpass is the simplest one to go with.

Moving away from LastPass, need a few features and simplicity for the family?

Hey all, So I have a conundrum, in that I've been with LastPass for some time and while it's not perfect it worked for myself and my family (kids/wife). I've started looking at other password managers as well, which seem really well reviewed like 1Password and NordPass, but there's one feature...

Musk implies Twitter exec falsely reported removal of suicide-prevention tool

I honestly am at a loss to watch how inept Elon has shown himself to be, in record time from what, a year ago many people likening him to Tony Stark. It’s an amazing fall from grace, and I’m sure that Tesla stockholders are none too pleased.

After cutting radar, Tesla now dropping ultrasonic sensors from its EVs

Full disclosure - I owned a 2022 Model X.... I don't own it any longer, and only owned it for 3 months (brand new). Part of my reason to take delivery is because the price I paid was many thousands less than the current price so I got the benefit of turning a profit (and I did) when taking...

Microsoft Teams now runs natively on Apple Silicon Macs

Not entirely true — the teams client that joins you to a workplace is the same. The native client is faster but doesn’t connect to enterprises.

Biden considers digital dollar—here’s how it could differ from regular money

This is basically a politicians way to not upset anybody invested into the idea of ripping other people off by issuing “tokens” and promising big changes using “blockchain”. Blockchain sucks in almost every measurable way, and it’s be nice to have politicians say that 99% of the industry is...

Spotify shows that when platforms become producers, the results are messy

The challenge in trying to have Spotify "cancel" Joe Rogan is that it won't really change a lot -- he will go to another platform and continue to do the same. That said, this is a moral/ethical implication which unfortunately, we can't force anybody to do/be. JR has a huge audience who listens...

Introducing Apple One, Apple’s subscription bundle answer to Amazon Prime

Have to ask -- does Apple Music allow for multiple streams of music on Alexa devices? That's literally the only reason I switched to Amazon Music, because I can play 5 different streams in my home with the family plan. Spotify doesn't allow that, and I don't know anything about Apple.

Amazon wins court injunction on controversial JEDI contract

There's a good reason that Amazon can get this injunction, and still not be worthy of winning the contract. Azure has come a very long way from when it first started, it aligns extremely well to enterprises and their support structures, and saves a lot of money in licensing for Windows...

Amazon sues DOD, claims Trump’s “improper pressure” blocked cloud contract win

There's two avenues here, regarding RFPs... in government, the RFPs tend to be very strict and by the details of the requirements. There's a lot of agencies and all of their requirements go into the bundle in order to validate the use cases can be met. For that reason, I'm more inclined to think...

AT&T vows to keep DirecTV despite losing millions of subscribers

Honestly they can make the commitment, but everybody should know that if push comes to shove, they will still throw in the towel at an inconvenient time. I've learned to never trust any corporate "commitments" of any kind.
