Rocket Report: Starship launch delayed, German launch company may aid Canada

It's Canada. That joke will remain relevant for at least another 10 years (I guess one wrinkle though is that those mall subs are long gone)

Uh-oh, the International Space Station is leaking again

Only if they're discreet. What will people say if they think the ISS is wearing Space Diapers?

Well, this is embarrassing: The Lunar Gateway’s primary modules are corroded

What if it was the valve that controls the shielding gas during welding? 😉

Blue Origin caps second heavy-lift launch with first offshore landing

They may perform the "hover slam" in the future once their confidence is up. Bringing it down beside the barge provides some safety in the event they can't stop the booster. Losing the booster again would be disappointing. Losing the barge with it would be brutal.

Popular Linux orgs Freedesktop and Alpine Linux are scrambling for new web hosting

Not even close to the actual costs. Even by your own calculations, I don't understand how you can get $10k from $7150 + $8865. Just those alone would be over $16k, not to mention proper server grade motherboards and CPUs would bump those costs up by tens of thousands more. To be fair, the...

Windows 11 has made the “clean Windows install” an oxymoron

The Xbox stuff is on Windows Server as well believe it or not. And on Server 2016, they were enabled by default. Windows Server!!

Windows 11 has made the “clean Windows install” an oxymoron

To be fair, Windows 10 does this as well if you sign in with your MS account during account creation. I can understand there being some limit in place, but why only 5 characters?!? (Half my family have names consisting of 6+ characters) It makes me wonder, if your name is Andrew, and someone...

I am one of those Canadians! It's also worth noting that Tim Hortons has been owned by RBI (Restaurant Brands International) for many years now. It's as 'Canadian' as Burger King and Popeyes now....

EA’s new anti-cheat tools dip into the dreaded “kernel mode”

There are games that check both of those boxes! Haha But jokes aside, I whole heartedly agree. I find it concerning that EA is even considering adding kernal-level anti-cheat to single-player games. Why?!? The only thing I can think of would be achievements, but a kernel-level AC is complete...

NASA and SpaceX set new date for crew launch, explain Merlin engine issue

They mentioned that it's possible this lacquer has been present in other engines, but it just was never noticed before, and it never caused any problems. I wonder if the environment leading up to the event had anything to do with it (temperature, humidity, etc.). Perhaps their post-incident...

Google makes seamless update support mandatory in Android 11

I find enterprise hardware as a whole has this. It's common for servers to have it with their bios/efi, plus the various components and their firmware. (Not all components of course) Just one reason why enterprise hardware costs more than their consumer counterparts. The OS running on the...
