Apple releases iOS 11.4.1, tvOS 11.4.1, HomePod 11.4.1, and watchOS 4.3.2

Why is this down voted? I have an install base of 30 iPhones and all are showing huge battery drain in 11.4. This is a legitimate gripe that needs attention. Edit: Apparently the answer is: no reason. Farewell comment section.. not worth the time fighting stupid.

New RAMpage exploit revives Rowhammer attack to root Android devices

I really love the naming of the exploits, they certainly pick them well.

California approves privacy rules opposed by ISPs and tech companies

This is a big slap to many businesses, their only true value was size and breadth of the information they held behind a paywall. I hope this is applied nationally, if I'm the "product", then I get a say if, when and where I so say. I think more than a few companies stock prices will come closer...

FDA approves first marijuana-derived drug— and it may spark DEA rescheduling

That's why the government made cannabis illegal, and thus all funding for federal studies for usage also illegal. That's one heck of a self-fulfilling prophecy.

FDA approves first marijuana-derived drug— and it may spark DEA rescheduling

Gov only re-thinks their factually incorrect position when Big Pharma manufactures/pays $ for it. Still the same thing you can grow in your window/garden at home illegally, buy it in a store completely legal. Boggles the mind just like the company that developed the hepatitis cure and someone...

Weird neutrino excess won’t go away, hints at new physics

It would seem so on the surface, but dark matter tends to form halos around large gravity wells (galaxies). Sterile neutrinos wouldn't stay in the same 'neighborhood' given their speed of light and non-interacting properties... I'm also not a physicist.

Intel is launching a 28-core enthusiast chip, but probably not at 5GHz

This "new" chip was identified as a re-work of an existing Xeon processor already on the market. So showing off an overclocked currently available chip using custom closed loop chiller is "new"? Sure seems like Intel is throwing whatever they can into the news stream to get attention again.

Police follow as guardsman takes personnel carrier on unscheduled deployment

Sure it just rolls right through <over> traffic, but the gas mileage is horrible for commuting.

VPNFilter malware infecting 500,000 devices is worse than we thought

Checked and sure enough the WNDR4300 has a new firmware available with patch notes "Fixes security issues".

After sanctions, Daybreak Games changes its tune on its Russian affiliation

I stopped playing/supporting their titles immediately after the sale. It was known back then that the new ownership was a business venture from a Russian oligarch. Friends don't let friends play games from people like that.

Feds pushing new plan for encrypted mobile device unlocks via court order

So the "government" wants it to create a separate key to unlock the device and store it elsewhere on the device. I'll only support this when lawmakers submit a "secondary" key to their home's front door and give us the key. We swear we'll only use it when ordered by a court.

AT&T’s attempt to buy Time Warner suffers a blow in court

..and how many of them own/produce the content and delivery. The issue comes quite evident when the two intersect. Take as example Comcast overcharging and strong arming smaller cable companies for their sports content? https://meincmagazine.com/tech-policy/201 ... ivals-say/

Is this what they mean when they say the data is stored "in the cloud"?

ISPs must follow net neutrality in New Jersey, governor declares

As both a citizen consumer and I.T. director, I look forward to holding their feet to the fire over this. When Verizon pre-empted local franchise agreements with municipalities, and bribed the state for a state-wide franchise, I held them to the finer points of the agreement to wire all...
