Pixel 8a rumors list 120 Hz display, DisplayPort compatibility

Lack of Displayport support has actually been a main reason I didn't go with Pixel for my last phone(s).

Smartphone sales down 22 percent in Q2, the worst performance in a decade

I'm just waiting for a good mini Android phone. Maybe some of those "other" manufacturers should consider bringing some form factor diversity back to Android, and then people might have an actual reason to pick their phone over the boring (and huge) mainstream options.

Facial recognition error led to wrongful arrest of Black man, report says

"... or asked to walk through his house to look for evidence. He would have complied" I don't even live in America (and have never been to Louisiana either), but if American police asked to walk through my house to look for evidence I would absolutely not comply.

Scientists blast out Earth’s location with the hope of reaching aliens

Pioneer 10 -- I like that our first attempt to communicate with alien civilisations was to send nudes. Stay classy, humans.

Intel, AMD, and other industry heavyweights create a new standard for chiplets

I just like saying "chiplets" out loud. Over and over.

    Is Firefox OK?

Try using Firefox on an Android tablet... It sucks. I want the same browser across all my devices (with tab sync) and Firefox disqualified itself. I did want to support the Firefox engine but for now I'm really happy with Vivaldi.

Keychron Q2 mechanical keyboard review: Enthusiast luxury at a decent price

I wish it were wireless, with 1st party key remapping support, and maybe most importantly... RGB customisation. I already have a K1, and imo the lack of RGB customisation is an issue, because the preloaded options are mostly aggressively distracting or just tasteless and not usable in the long...

Harken back to the late 1990s with this re-creation of the dialup Internet experience

Load times were definitely long, but to be fair, in those days sites weren't as demanding as they are now, so i think this would be an exaggerated amount of slowness in most cases.

The 7 best fitness deals from this week’s early Black Friday sales

I took my Samsung Watch Active 2 for a single (hour long) swim, and it is now bricked due to water damage, which also voids the warranty. So only swim with the Watch 4 knowing that it's not going to be covered, despite their marketing.

We’re getting a Wheel of Time prequel film trilogy to augment Amazon series

I dropped out half way through due to the endless "girls are so frustrating and impossible to understand (but i must protect them)" and "boys are so oafish, but I'll do anything to care for them". I was just rolling my eyes constantly at the dialogue in these books.

China tosses more obstacles at WHO team investigating pandemic’s origin

If they came to Australia instead (hypothetically), with recent negative tests or existing antibodies, they would still also need to quarantine in a government provided hotel for 14 days, including a couple more tests at the beginning and end of that quarantine period.

That's also what i wear just to go to the café

Celebrities tell their psychedelic stories in winsome doc Have a Good Trip

I feel like these experiences belong within a group with which you have a personal connection, not publicly collected. Why is this interesting to hear? It's like a stranger at a party telling you their dream. To be fair, I haven't watched it, just commenting on the concept. In general i do...

Abstract art with “pseudo-profound” BS titles seen as more meaningful

The title frames the image and gives it context. Especially with an abstract image, that framing is even more impacting...

From Wi-Fi to Spy-Fi—we test Plume’s new motion detection feature

I just want this to connect to my smart lights, or maybe the assistant can route audio to the nearest speaker as i move around.

Vivaldi Mobile review: Can everyone’s favorite power browser work on phones?

I open a browser for browsing. I don't want to wonder what assortment of other unrelated functions it bundled in. I prefer to use a separate app for note-taking: dedicated to note-taking and replaceable for note-taking. Changing from the in-app browsing interface over to the note-taking...

Feds say Boeing 737 needs to be better designed for humans

Of active, qualified pilots... I think it definitely does "make sense to design for the worst of the bunch".

Football Manager nixes plastic for eco-friendly cardboard game package

Never thought I'd feel any kind of enthusiasm towards the Football Manager franchise. These steps as well as the intentions behind them are great. I just wish it were applied to a product i might actually buy.

Part sci-fi thriller, part crime drama, Don’t Let Go is an understated gem

There's also the excellent anime movie 'Your Name' (available on Netflix here). Follows a similar theme of "remote communication" to solve a crisis, but instead of a telephone, it's body swapping.
