And for me … with iOS 7 I could finally enjoy using an iPhone, the slender MBP remains my favourite form of that device and the delightful Touch Bar lives on in my M2 13”. Never did get a gold watch though (or any, yet).

So what keyboard and mouse do you use?

Yes, give me a compact Magic Keyboard with black keys and inverted-T arrows … Meanwhile I did get a new white compact one to go with new Studio (compared to black extended that came with iMac Pro). Plus trackpad on the right, and mouse on the left (Magic both).

I hope the food was commensurably epic.

    Microsoft Office and OS X

One unrelated thing I did notice moving that work from Excel on Intel iMac Pro to new Studio is that Excel for Mac chugged along running minimal threads and not much RAM refreshing the power queries sometimes overnight. Whereas the same on the Studio spawns countless mashup threads and takes...

    Microsoft Office and OS X

No to the first thing, but basically because I’ll only do significant Excel work with things in my Mac documents folder (with the default iCloud sharing on, noting also that unlike Numbers I can’t leave a file open on one device and expect to continue working seamlessly on another device, of...

    Microsoft Office and OS X

Yes it’s bollocks really, I also recall seeing the special onedrive-centric open/save windows/dialogs back when and just running the other way.

    Microsoft Office and OS X

Yeah I guess that’s the answer, but I’m probably not going to use their cloud thing either. Edit: ok didn’t notice the timestamp on those posts

    Microsoft Office and OS X

Those ‘refusing to do macOS things normally’ instances annoy me slso and basically led me to reduce my Office app use to the barest minimum. Which at least means I care less that Office doesn’t reopen things properly on restart, because I rarely have them open anyway. Of course there are cases...

Apple may take “several months” to catch up to Mac mini and Studio demand

I almost hit the downvote on Fred's post until I realised all his links were 'amazing' endorsements of Mac for 'AI' play and the apparent criticism of Tim was actually sarcasm.

So Excel is better for people who can’t use menus or customize the toolbar. Makes sense. After all the Office ribbon was (in)famously designed by popularity poll. But how did you know I had incredible hair?

As this is the Apple rants thread, not the Apple software is nice thread, I'd best post some qualifying content. Notes on Mac, Tahoe and Sequoia both. Once a note gets a bit long content may start jumping around. Typing something at the end, suddenly I'm looking at the middle-ish. Letting it...

No. I'm guessing the Office paintbrush was pretty flash in the 1990s or whenever, but whoever thought copy style and paste style should be a single button wasn't my kind of UI thinker. It only works once. Unless you double-click the paintbrush which conveniently doesn't indicate state so you...

    Mac Pro, Vale

As someone who went through two generations of G5 Power Mac, the Xeon Mac Pro, the cylinder, an iMac Pro and finally a Studio, his commentary was comprehensive and spot-on.

I did say 'less egregious'. :) So I had to read up on 'dark patterns' to get a clue, it's been one of those idioms that trigger my mental eye-roll as just a bit hysterical-sounding compared to much darker things happening in recent years. Not criticising your usage or meaning however. Turns...

Interesting. My reaction emoji suggestions do appear to match my previous selections. Or do you mean the larger general emoji suggestion popover? But they don't sync iPhone vs Mac, just as you say. Actually both reaction and general emoji popover/panel look like my recently used, but still...

You should've mentioned that in your post—definitely rant-worthy behaviour. I didn't get the same result from a multi-column select+drag autofill though. There was an offer of 'Magic'. I haven't subscribed but it performed anyway. Not that it was distinguishable from a normal fill. Maybe I...

If memory serves the ribbon layout was generated via frequency of use for each item/button as opposed to functional logic. It was certainly the beginning of the end for me. Keynote was always better than Powerpoint of course, and both Pages and Numbers improved over time, thankfully.

I have to use Excel for precisely two jobs (Mac version, and Windows version because Microsoft haven't quite got all Data functions to work on Mac) so I'm actually very glad Numbers isn't that. And while I saw Apple added a PivotTable function I really never want to do one of those as long as I...
