    Methanol has been proposed as a major currency for a hydrogen economy. It can be created using hydrogen, CO2, and electricity. It doesn't have the energy density of liquid hydrogen, but it remains a stable liquid at standard temperature and pressure, is easily transported, and fairly non-toxic.
