Comcast beats Monsanto in Consumerist’s “Worst Company in America” poll

It should concern everybody that Comcast beat out Monsanto for this, and EA beat out a company like British Petroleum in previous years. Who votes for this stuff, and do you actually think this? It goes to show how ignorant the average person is. Pathetic.

Mega pile-on: MPAA sues Kim Dotcom, who’s already facing criminal charges

I don't get how anybody can defend a site like Megaupload. It is pretty clear what its main purpose was and there is no use trying to pretend it was something else. OH you can't get your TV show commercially? That definitely justifies the theft of it..... NOT. What silly goosery!!! What about...

Watch out trolls: Microsoft begins sending Xbox One reputation warnings

I like this idea and really hope it works out. Most of us play games for fun, or to unwind... nothing worse than getting bombarded by harassment from someone who plays the game because it is their life. Just adds stress to something that should not be stressful :)

Google and Microsoft are out to stop dual-boot Windows/Android devices

Great article, and a sentiment that is common. This is not about choice, or being good, or great for consumers. Having these dual boot monstrosities hit the market would only further confuse consumers. Maybe great for giga nerds, but great for consumers is having similar designs with different...

Reports: Microsoft plans cheaper, disc-free, white Xbox Ones in 2014

Considering the state of broadband North America I can't see this gaining as much traction as Microsoft hopes. I am all for what they are trying to do, and see the benefits of their vision, but it is only going to make regular people mad when they realize it is going to take 3 days to download...

Intel closes AppUp, its PC app store (Intel had a PC app store?)

Lenovo notebooks have a great deal of software that features in the system are dependent on. It is much, MUCH easier simply to uninstall the bloatware than to re install windows and go through the task of installing only the drivers & software that you need on a Lenovo system the good majority...

Don’t expect Ubuntu phones from major carriers until 2015

To me this seems like a phone that is designed to do everything. I think it is completely pointless though. A phone that can do everything is going to be great at a couple things and terrible at most stuff. Not to mention it is going to be released into a completely saturated high end market.

Gallery: the 13 Steam Machines and all of their glorious variety

I wonder, how much does it cost? And does it require a dedicated steam OS machine to stream? That seems great, having two limited computers in house so you can stream from one to the other.....

Gallery: the 13 Steam Machines and all of their glorious variety

Pre-built steam OS units from the absolute worst OEMs. I wouldn't have let iBuyPOWER anywhere near this, they have such a bad reputation. The good news is consumers LOVE deciphering PC specs, that is one of the reasons PC gaming is so big now adays.

Steam Controller impressions: A case of love-and-hate-at-first-sight

The more that comes out about SteamOS and steam boxes, the more people are starting to realize that Valve is far from perfect and that this machine is not going to be the machine that rules all machines. This is a limited system, and we are living in hard times. People don't like spending money...

GOG’s managing director: Gamer resistance to DRM is stronger than ever

Completely DRM free is not without its faults, much the same as having insane DRM restrictions. Digital property is not the same as physical property and as such should be treated differently... just not outlandishly. My point I guess is that it is silly to simply label digital rights...

How to capture FRAPS-like video from SteamOS

I don't think Ars understands that, otherwise the headline story wouldn't be a homebrew solution to record videos on an OS that is nowhere near proper release. This isn't news.... at all. How about you write an article about how you have already declared this project a success, regardless of...

Oculus raises an extra $75 million to bring Rift headset to market

It chaps my ass that SteamOS gets more media attention than this. Not that I think this is destined for immediate greatness.... but this technology is world changing for more than just gaming.

Valve releases SteamOS beta, early build-your-own system requirements

Sure these systems are going to 'Support' Intel and other low end graphics, but what use is it? It is going to turn an already limited machine into a limited machine that can only play a limited selection of games. The problem with this project compared to gaming consoles is that one console...

LG G Flex Review: form over even basic function

I keep hearing people talk about how this would make it fit in your pocket much better. Really? Carrying most smartphones in your pocket is a terrible practice(Unless you wear silk pants and vacuum out your pockets frequently) and curving the screen would only exacerbate the problem. Referring...

Jury: Newegg infringes Spangenberg patent, must pay $2.3 million

I don't know what I am talking about, but I am given to believe this is bad so I am going to rage about something I myself do not even see clearly. - 99% of Ars Technica members

Acer adds a touchscreen to its budget Chromebook, boosts price to $299

Everybody talking about RAM.... yes it is a cheap upgrade, but the fact is most people don't use more than 2GB so it really isn't a big deal. Especially in a chromebook.

Canonical “abused trademark law” to target a site critical of Ubuntu privacy

Canonical is trying to hitch its wagon to the 'Open Source' star, but everything it does (Aside from one man spending his fortune to maintain it) screams in contrast.

11 things we learned from Valve’s latest Steam Machine PR push

Remind me again why I am paying for a full blown computer that is only capable of playing games? Why would I not spend the additional $100, install windows on it, Install steam on it, and have access to my entire steam library right in my living room, as well as backwards compatibility? The...

isoHunt shuts down a day early to avoid becoming part of online archive

Going to torrent sites like isoHunt and Piratebay is downright humiliating what with the obscene advertisements polluting at least 50% of the screen real estate. These sites need to go away and give way to something that at least on the surface appears civil, because it seems like one of the pre...
