Our favorite gear at Sea Otter Classic wasn’t the bikes—it was the accessories

Most bike racks aren't custom tailored to your steed's dimensions, they are one size fits all. Close enough is good enough.

Motorola’s budget phones are now up to 50% more expensive as memory shortage drags on

I have a moto g power 2025. I think I paid under $200 for it, and I never feel guilty about dropping it since it is basically disposable. I don't use my phone for anything more demanding than web browsing or taking the occasional photo so it is just fine for my needs.

Chevy Bolt, BMW i3, or something else? At $10k, you have lots of EV options

That's really cool! It doesn't look like my old 2015 500e has a supported battery, but I'm not ready to take it off the road yet anyway.

Chevy Bolt, BMW i3, or something else? At $10k, you have lots of EV options

Almost no cars do V2H. It is infuriating. You're telling me I can pay $40,000 for 40kwh of battery backup, but if I pay the same amount for batteries on wheels, I can't use them to power my house? It is stupid. The Nissan Leaf and F-150 Lightning are the only vehicles I know of with true V2H...

Discord faces backlash over age checks after data breach exposed 70,000 IDs

Because I don't live in the dystopian nanny state that is Texas, I can browse hardcore pornography with the click of a button. I don't have to scan an ID or send a photo with today's newspaper. I shouldn't have to jump through more hoops for a chat app just to keep the same user experience I...

How far does $5,000 go when you want an electric car?

If you're not aware, you can "hack" your car's software to make the gas tank bigger and hold the battery state of charge at a higher threshold.

How far does $5,000 go when you want an electric car?

Yeah, it'll do above 70 but you get to watch the battery percentage drop faster than the mile markers increase.

How far does $5,000 go when you want an electric car?

I have a 500e. I love it, it is a great city car. If you take a look at the boring.cars Instagram, you might just happen to see mine parked outside, buried under a foot of snow. Does it love the cold weather? No, not really. Does it want to do 70mph? It will, but it would prefer 55 or below...

ChatGPT hyped up violent stalker who believed he was “God’s assassin,” DOJ says

Sure it will destroy everything, but it won't happen right away. And in between now and then, a few people could get really rich. It is totally worth it!

ChatGPT hyped up violent stalker who believed he was “God’s assassin,” DOJ says

You are. Touch grass. Or if it snowing where you live, build a snowman. Just get outside and interact with the real world, a place where implying you are going to show someone a dead body is something a mentally disturbed person would say.

Google’s Sundar Pichai warns of “irrationality” in trillion-dollar AI investment boom

"That's a nice 401k you have. It would be a shame if anything happened to it." That is what he means when he says nobody will get out of this unscathed.

GOP budget bill poised to crush renewable energy in the US

Solar power is so inefficient that it only powers literally everything on the planet. Those fossil fuels only exist because millions of years ago, a dinosaur ate grass that grew because of photosynthesis (solar power). I can't believe how stupid and short-sighted it is for the United States to...

Nintendo Switch 2’s gameless Game-Key cards are going to be very common

I have a Switch. I owned multiple DSes and a 3DS. It's ok to criticize a company when you think they could be doing better. Key cards are wack. Paying $10 for reheated leftovers from the previous generation is wack. $90 controllers with horrible thumbsticks - wack. Nintendo's online service and...

Nintendo Switch 2’s gameless Game-Key cards are going to be very common

The Nintendo formula is well known, they've been running the same playbook since the Wii. 10 good to middling exclusives that never go on sale, barely any 3rd party support, abundant shovelware, and a gimmicky user interface that never really lives up to its promise.

Tesla makes its cars lie about their mileage, lawsuit claims

I see a lot of people mentioning GPS tracking for mileage verification but I want to point out that a mechanical device for measuring distance traveled already exists. It is called a Hubometer. It shouldn't be that hard to slap one on a Tesla and compare A to B...

Google confirms Pixel 9a launch for April 10

I'd love to see a review here of the current Moto G lineup and the Nothing 3a. I don't feel like there are that many compelling reasons to spend $600+ on a cell phone these days and it would be really nice to know how some sub-Pixel-priced phones fare as daily drivers.

RFK Jr. shuts Americans out of health decisions despite vow for transparency

Aurich can ban me if I'm being disruptive, I guess. If you look at my comment count you can see that I don't pretty often. I'm glad a couple pennies of your subscription make their way to Beth, it's too bad that just as many find their way into the pockets of the previously mentioned enablers...

RFK Jr. shuts Americans out of health decisions despite vow for transparency

Hey Beth, I'm sure I don't need to tell you this but some of your coworkers here at ArsTechnica are Musk apologists. They are publicly carrying water for this regime and are emboldening incompetency and kleptocracy. They are actively making your job harder, endangering the livelihoods of...
