How do you design a $30,000 electric pickup? Inside Ford’s skunkworks.

The world of information technology is rife with this. Technology is almost a religion to some people... going against their status-quo is akin to blasphemy or iconoclasm. Some of my most successful projects were skunk works projects that upended decades of entrenched "that's the way we've...

GameStop offers $56 billion for eBay, struggles to explain how it’ll pay for it

They'll make it up in volume. The last time I sold something on eBay I got socked with nearly 30% of the sold item in fees. The sad alternative is Craigs List or Facebook Marketplace and then I have to actually deal with people... Maybe those fees aren't so high.

Microsoft open-sources “the earliest DOS source code discovered to date”

As well as you would expect it to... poorly unless it was MS-DOS... just too many incompatibilities to deal with made it painful.

Howdy’s dated $3/month ad-free streaming service said to have 1M subscribers

I 86'ed the Disney channel from my budget when they kowtowed to the feds to appease the grand tangerine. Also for anyone that may be wondering - 86'ed means "to remove, to reject, to evict from" in restaurant vernacular. Anyone who thinks I did a mob hit on a mouse has been reading too many...

Lawsuits, licensing, and royalties are complicating 4K video support in gadgets

The kicker is, HP makes more than $1 on the Intel sticker slapped on the wrist rest of that laptop or front panel of that desktop case. The fact that they can't / won't just eat the cost is directly related to who is actually paying for the license ownership. This story clearly shows that even...

Lawsuits, licensing, and royalties are complicating 4K video support in gadgets

I work for a software company that employees thousands of people around the world. I don't think you thought that comment through very well. Open source is awesome... but I can't feed my kids or pay my bills on good will.

NZXT agrees to $3.45 million settlement over controversial rental PC program

Gamers Nexus alerted many to this company’s shenanigans. The shady agreements and all the “influencers” that were paid to boost this scam was truly appalling.
