Musk calls Twitter verification system “bullsh—,” announces $8 monthly charge

TIL people actually pay to let people know what they had for lunch. Edit: A word.

The iPhone 13 mini is the last of Apple’s modern mini iPhones still standing

I upgraded from an OG SE to the 13 Mini and love it (though I wish it were the same size as the OG SE with the small-bezel screen). Hopefully they do continue the smaller-screened versions though. I still have my OG SE as a backup.

Severance is a show about connection—plus melon parties, cults, and baby goats

Loved it, and I can't wait for season 2. I am surprised this show isn't talked about as much. The acting is superb as well.

Ubisoft execs: “Gamers are always right”—yet they somehow “misunderstand” NFTs

The problem with NFTs isn’t that people don’t understand them, it’s that they do.

First “OLED EX” TVs announced, promising brighter high-contrast picture

In Europe they are pretty popular, I have an Ambilight OLED 805 and love it. I think they don’t really sell TVs in North America.

Florida strips federal funding from schools as further punishment for masking

Another Pro Life politician. War is peace.

Anti-vaccine school in Florida tells kids to stay home if they get a COVID shot

This is infuriating. Nothing is 100% safe - do you drive your kids to work? Do you wear seatbelts? Why? Because they are safer than driving without them, despite the fact that they could, perhaps, kill your child. Like everything else, it's a risk, but that risk is absolutely better than the...

Florida’s new surgeon general skeptical of vaccines, opposes masks

Remember when, not long ago, conservatives were complaining about non-existent "death panels"? Turns out they now exist, and they created them.

Biden’s vaccine mandate blitz covers tens of millions of workers

Get ready for the “pro-life” crowd to complain about one of Biden’s attempt to save lives. Edit: Typo.

Facebook bans Holocaust denial amid rapid rise in “deceptive” content

On a private platform, I think banning Holocaust denial and other forms of hate and blatant misinformation is pretty straightforward.

“BlueLeaks” airs private data from more than 200 US police agencies

If they've done nothing wrong, I suppose they've nothing to hide, right?

Why Donald Trump’s war on Big Tech is doomed to fail

I didn't realize that online social forums must abide by the "you must publish what Conservatives say" law. Meanwhile, they'll defend businesses' decisions to not serve protected (marginalized) classes of people, because it's "their business".

Samsung copies the Apple Card, announces “Samsung Money”

Actually that isn't bad; I forgot about the no fees on this one. My bad; better than I remember it being when I read about it at launch!

Samsung copies the Apple Card, announces “Samsung Money”

I do like the idea of some of the technologies in these cards (no number on it, rotating number that ultimately connects to the same account, easy to use apps), but... do people really buy that many Apple/Samsung products to justify having these? With the Apple Card, I think it's benefit is 3X...

Americans have Texas-sized carbon footprints—here’s why

This is anecdotal, but (of course, depends on where in Europe/the US you live) as an American living in Europe, it seems that very few people here (Netherlands) have AC units or dryers, use public transit/bicycles most of the time, and there are grocery stores all over the place, which limits...

Apple finally announces a new iPhone SE

It makes me sad the the market seems to prefer enormous phones. I love my OG iPhone SE, and hopefully I'll be able to find another on the used market if mine breaks. Me on my phone to the rest of the world:

Apple Store appears to leak new, iPhone 8-like iPhone SE

If it's not the same size as the current SE, it's not the SE for me.

States, feds try to end scourge of coronavirus price-gouging

"But muh free market!" - A libertarian, probably. I don't know what the solution is, but perhaps part of it is limiting the number of essential products that people can buy to prevent hoarding/reselling. That way, everyone has a shot at buying those products for the normal price.
