LG’s $1,800 TV for seniors comes with an upcharge and AI button

My parents watch broadcast only. They have a Samsung OLED TV that drops a channel if the TV signal is low, which happens from time to time because I don't know why. I have to rescan the TV to get the channel back. My parents needs me to rescan the TV for them because they can't and don't want to...

Google Pixel 10 series review: Don’t call it an Android

Yes, I converted to an esim. It's done through Pixel 10 setup, though. I think if you want to convert without doing it with a new phone, you would have to call T-Mobile. The number Pixel setup showed was 1-800-937-8997. edit: thinking about it more, if your existing phone has an esim option...

Google Pixel 10 series review: Don’t call it an Android

Which Pixel model needs the screen to be removed to replace the battery? I replaced the battery in a Pixel 3 easily, no screen removable necessary.

Google Pixel 10 series review: Don’t call it an Android

Too bad it is only for more expensive plans. I have the $15 t-mobile connect prepaid plan and satellite isn't an option.

GM stops sharing driver data with brokers amid backlash

It seems Toyota collects data, as well. See this reddit post: reddit.com/r/COROLLA/comments/1biygxl/psa_turn_off_insure_connect_before_your_insurance/

Review: Apple’s efficient M3 MacBook Airs are just about as good as laptops get

As a PC person, if rumors of Windows turning into a subscription ends up being true, I'm switching to Apple at home for the first time. The only software that ties me to a PC is Quicken, but that can be accessed in a VM or by finding an alternative.

Protective vaccination rates falling out of reach in US; exemptions hit record

I gots the covid. It started on Wednesday with discomfort swallowing, followed by the usual symptoms of an upper respiratory illness like runny nose, body aches, and cough. It is now Saturday, and thanks to the updated vaccine I received last month, I feel I am 75% to recovery. Without the...

T-Mobile switches users to pricier plans and tells them it’s not a price hike

I'm on Tello (uses T-mobile network). I pay $6.93/month for 500MB data, 100 minutes, unlimited text. Data and minutes roll over when renewing 1 day early. I have 1,300 minutes and 6.2GB data banked. There was one month, during a move, when I used 1.2GB data without realizing it. I often use data...

Guidemaster: Picking the right tablet for each use case

I bought a Surface Pro 8, but it is too heavy as a tablet. I bought an iPad Air and really liked it. Now, I regret buying the Surface Pro. I already have a powerful laptop and desktop and only needed a tablet as a companion. The Surface Go probably would have suited me better. Hindsight.

My test of PDF printers in Windows 10

Word, Excel, OneNote, Powerpoint, and Publisher have Export to pdf, which is better than MS Print to PDF. Too bad Outlook does not. Excel PDFCreator ~ 56 KB Export to PDF ~ 161 KB Print to PDF ~ 448 KB Publisher PDFCreator ~ 29 KB Export to PDF ~ 86 KB Print to PDF ~ 744 KB Onenote PDFCreator...

My test of PDF printers in Windows 10

If Microsoft Print to PDF did a better job printing from MS Office, I wouldn't bother with other solutions. It creates files that are much larger than other pdf printers, so I use those other options instead.

My test of PDF printers in Windows 10

I decided to try a handful of pdf printers to see which created the smallest file size using default settings. Here are my unscientific results: Print an email in Outlook 365 Bullzip ~ 155 KB Cutepdf ~ 195 KB Microsoft Print To PDF ~ 911 KB PDFCreator ~ 158 KB Print an Amazon invoice in...

Passwordless Google accounts are easier and more secure than passwords. Here’s why.

You could disguise your recovery codes. For example, if your recovery code is 12345, create a fake recipe like: 1 lobster 2 tbsp vinegar 3 cups sugar 4 tbsp soy sauce 5 celery sticks

Microsoft-branded mice and keyboards are going away after 40 years

I bought a wireless Intellimouse at Best Buy on Wednesday, June 12, 2002. The outside high temperature that day was 77 F with ~5mph wind speed. Bing/ChatGPT wrongly tells me the high temp was 82. But anyways, the mouse developed the dreaded double-click issue.

A very special Dealmaster: Last-minute deals you can still grab

I bought the Apple Pencil (2nd gen). I have a 3rd-party pencil for the iPad, but it keeps turning itself off after several minutes, even while using it. Using promo code CITI2022 with a Citi card took $15 off the price.

    The best cheap Android phones

$100 per year is too rich for me. I am on Tello's $6 monthly plan with 100 minutes/500MB data/unlimited text. After taxes and fees, it is $82.91 per year. If you renew 1 day before the plan auto-renews, minutes and data will carry over. I paid $130 last year for a new Pixel 3 from B&H. There...
