Samsung decides 56 smartphones a year is too many, will cut lineup by 30%

If this does not exhibit the "throw it against the wall and see what sticks" mentality I do not know what does. The fact that Samsung was not optimizing component sharing across models says a lot!

Uber exec suggests “opposition research” on journalists

Who died and made you god with all of your judgments - Emil Michael can have an opinion, which despite the subsequent disclaimer he probably still holds. It does not mean there are not consequences as Brendan Eich found out... https://www.google.com/search?q=brendan ... gws_rd=ssl

Uber exec suggests “opposition research” on journalists

Are you saying the press is supposed to report in a biased way depending on what is said about them. I thought the press was supposed to report as objectively and without bias as possible. As for firing the executive it really depends on the value he brings to the company as a whole and not...

NYC to install 10,000 free public Wi-Fi hotspots in its streets

I sure hope the Wi-Fi Kiosks are built super tough, because once the public starts gnawing on them... Hopefully they will have really thought through the life cycle support requirement and be built to be serviced relatively easily as components wear out naturally or through touch public...

Office for iPad goes free-to-use, now supports the iPhone too

Deal breaker! Without the Office 365 subscription you cannot do the following in Word. Plus you have to sign up for a Microsoft account. The "basic" editing provided I. The "free" version does not provide the features that I would need so I am sticking to a Pages/PDF workflow.

Orbital Sciences to shift ISS resupply launches to other rockets

Looking at the video when the first stage first failed it did not appear to blow up, rather it appeared that thrust was catastrophically lost and the vehicle started falling back to Earth. Evidently Antares was command destructed by the Missile Flight Safety Officer in charge of the Command...

Orbital Sciences to shift ISS resupply launches to other rockets

Hope springs eternal, however do you really think Orbital would walk away from a lucrative contract that is in their core competency. If they did the axe would fall and hundreds or perhaps thousands of engineers, admin, logistics, etc. personnel would be out of a job. Besides the current...

iOS 8.1.1 said to address iPhone 4S and iPad 2 performance problems

All I am saying is that I want to review the test results before deciding to increment to iOS 8.1.1. I agree that generally one will either need to update the OS or the device to get hardware better able to support the new device.

iOS 8.1.1 said to address iPhone 4S and iPad 2 performance problems

How about waiting for test results before you prognosticate that "you're screwed"? I have an iPhone 4S and iPad 2 on iOS 7.1.2 and I am waiting for test results comparing iOS 6 (hopefully), iOS 7.1.2 and iOS 8.1.1 on those devices. Then I will determine if I increment the OS or not. My devices...

Napster, Netflix founders top donors in California voter politics

It should have said minimize criminal penalities. Basically you can ripoff a home or business and write bad checks for up to $950 and it is a misdemeanor, and not a felony as long as you do not have priors. Kind of like hey this is your first time ripping off your neighbors home so here is a slap...
