Battery life is much better than the GNex. I can get a full day at my low signal office without needing my charger (which is good because my coworker steals it frequently). I leave it on wifi at my apartment because I've got even less signal there. The modem in general is just leagues above the...

I bought it unsubsidized (dev model, unlocked and rooted) and also had a GNex before it. What would you like to know? For the SIM I bought a cutter to trim it down to fit in the Moto X. Worked like a charm, didn't have to spend any time interacting with Verizon.

Holiday Dealmaster does yoga—a Thinkpad Yoga 11, to be precise

Any chance we can get you guys to stop using the tracking links? My work blocks the doubleclick links for no given reason and the zdbb ones are classified as adware/malware.

People who like the Pinyin keyboard, have you tried swiping from the shift and number keys on the Google keyboard? It works really well and you get to keep the word prediction/correction you're used to. Just start on the shift key and go to any letter for the capital version, and...

Moto X software update significantly improves camera quality

Weird, even when I logged out and disabled AdBlock (already disabled for Ars, even though I'm a sub, but disabled everywhere as well) and FlashBlock and I still didn't have it come up. There was a broken image doubleclick ad at the top, maybe that was it. Lame that they didn't make it available...

Moto X is here (was hype is underway)

Not a lot of mention about using Bluetooth devices as well to act as trust for the phone, that seems even more interesting than the NFC tag.

Pumping gas...MA what do you know that the other states don't?

OP, if you live near Woburn there is a Exxon on 38 right off 128/95 that still magically has the clips. No clue why it does, but I was filling up a lot there in the winter. I moved up to NH recently and funny enough the station where I refilled my rental truck didn't have the clips!

Adobe Flash exploit grabs video and audio, long after “fix”

My question is how does it avoid Flashblock on the page in Chrome? The icon for Flashblock doesn't even show up on the toolbar on the demo page, and that scares me.

So long, Apple. (Apple to Android thoughts and steps)

Carbon in non-root mode uses a virtual ADB process on phone (which is why you have to connect it to a PC to start) to do backups. It's more complete than Google's data back up, but not as complete as Titanium Backup or an image of /data.

With KeePass you own your password database, so keeping it somewhere like dropbox is useful for multiple devices.

Will we ever have VoIP access to our cell numbers?

What you're saying does already exist in various solutions. Android supports native SIP calling, so in theory you can do that now. It falls apart when you talk about tablets because they aren't built with phone services, but I'm sure there are apps out there that will work for your uses. Skype...
