Pixel 9 family: The “just hardware” review (no AI)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I'm feeling similarly. The AI features aren't much of a selling point for me, but I've noticed my battery life decreasing and pixel discoloration setting in

Pixel 9 family: The “just hardware” review (no AI)

At least with earlier Pixels, you can choose between the old assistant and Gemini. I'm not sure if this is an option on the 9th generation or how long you can defer enabling it.

Pixel 9 family: The “just hardware” review (no AI)

I have the Pixel 6a and can't decide if to upgrade to the 9. I'm still happy with the performance and Google promised at least one more year of feature updates. Any advice? (With current launch incentives I can get the unlocked Pixel 9 for $550 if I trade in my 6a) The only features that stand...

AT&T and Verizon ask FCC to throw a wrench into Starlink’s mobile plan

The FCC should easily be able to test if their claims are true by allowing them to test in a single market before nationwide rollout. If the interference levels are above what the FCC allows, shut it down. If not, let it be.

The cheapest Tesla Cybertruck is $99,990; promised $60K model canceled

Remember back when the Model 3 was announced as a $35,000 vehicle? Today the absolute minimum is ~$45k Ford did the same thing with their Lightnings as well. Auto manufactuers regularly mislead customers in their announcements. Tesla just does this as a rule.

It's not just 10-20%. Back at launch in 2018 the price was $5/mo. It has since tripled.

Disney has “earned” latest streaming price hike, CFO says

I cannot use their app because they don't display the titles of the content under each thumbnail. Every single thumbnail is different and I have to decipher the title in different fonts. Some titles are so tiny that they work out to 11pt font even on a 60in screen! At this point the "free"...

Disney has “earned” latest streaming price hike, CFO says

That's because I had an annual subscription and it expires in November. I already turned off autopay to ensure it doesn't renew. Disney+ originally cost ~$5/mo back in 2018 and now it is $14? fucccckkkkk that shit.

Drugmaker CEO to testify on “outrageously” priced weight-loss drugs

Because this is a capitalist system working exactly as intended. Humans are only worth what they can produce monetarily. It's absolutely brutal, yet perfectly legal. The US economy thrives because of the ever-spending, debt-laden American consumer and the looming threat of losing it all only...

Apple’s AI promise: “Your data is never stored or made accessible by Apple”

FWIW- the NSA never "accessed" our phone calls or PCs. They simply sniffed the metadata to develop full profiles of our browsing habits, contact networks, and physical addresses. The metadata of our digital footprint is often far more valuable than the specific contents of each file.

These are all the devices compatible with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18

Pretty impressive that iOS 18 will be available on the iPhone SE. I recently bought one refurbished for $90! The perfect type of device to give to a kid or elder that would benefit from a compact, simple phone. Edit: As marsilies pointed out, this is for SE 2nd Gen models and later. The one I...

Max, Disney+, Hulu to offer ad-free, discounted bundle this summer

This is what happens when focus is shifted from user growth to top line growth. I still have active top tier subscriptions for Max, Hulu, Disney, Netflix, and Prime, but I haven't opened any of them in months because the overall user experience is worse than just using a basic "free" (🏴‍☠️)...

Dell tells remote workers that they won’t be eligible for promotion

Not specifically, but you can bet that protected statuses are associated with higher rates of WFH.
