Musk turns on Tesla’s latest Full Self-Driving beta, says it’s “actually not great”

I didn't say his promises are done or late. He just makes shit up and always has. I'm not a fan of it, but I'm also not surprised anymore. Dude's like Kanye West... gains media attention and funding by saying outlandish things

Musk turns on Tesla’s latest Full Self-Driving beta, says it’s “actually not great”

At the very least, I hope that future cars have rigorous safety features. Ideally, cars will come with automatic braking, lane keep assist, radar cruise control, and *maybe* something to measure driver attentiveness/sobriety. It is irresponsible for L2 features to be called "Autopilot" when it...

Musk turns on Tesla’s latest Full Self-Driving beta, says it’s “actually not great”

Elon's deadlines have never really been accurate. Interpret his misses as you will, but this is par for the course for his role at Tesla.

GM recalls every Chevy Bolt ever made, blames LG for faulty batteries

This reminds me of the massive Hyundai/Kia recall from last year where some cars were catching on fire randomly while parked and turned off. I know there's increased attention on this because it has to do with an EV battery, but just remember that ICE vehicles have also been known to catch fire...

The US military may soon declassify a secret space weapon

Anything short of a tractor beam will still risk collateral damage from space debris. I so want them to reveal a tractor beam!

After helping decimate department stores, Amazon plans to open its own

They have a massive dataset to know exactly what people are buying in which areas. In fact, they may know what you need before you do. Also, it could be convenient for their last mile logistics to route package pickups/drop-offs through the retail stores. (i.e. "save 5% if you pick this up in...

After helping decimate department stores, Amazon plans to open its own

I bet they'll get the retail space for really cheap too. Turns out market strategy is pretty easy once you have monopolistic powers 🤷‍♂️

Hackers who breached T-Mobile stole personal data for ~49 million accounts

True, but I didn't say they denied it. If I recall correctly, all they said before today was that they couldn't confirm it. (while the supposed hacker shared actual records over the weekend) In Dan's article from yesterday, they were quoted as saying "We have determined that unauthorized access...

Hackers who breached T-Mobile stole personal data for ~49 million accounts

Well on the bright side.. there will almost certainly be another SSN breach before this two year subscription is up 🙃

Hackers who breached T-Mobile stole personal data for ~49 million accounts

Amazing - this was first reported last week with screenshots to show how they did it. Why did it take T-Mobile until today to confirm the breach?

T-Mobile has been hacked yet again—but still doesn’t know what was taken

Well if Equifax sets any precedent... nothing will get better and affected users shouldn't expect even an apology

T-Mobile has been hacked yet again—but still doesn’t know what was taken

I think the idea is so phone calls can always be attributed to an individual. The disposable pre-paid phones of yesteryear were often employed by criminals and KYC laws required phone companies to collect certain information. Are there anonymous VOIP and spoofing services? absolutely!

This is probably why Blue Origin keeps protesting NASA’s lunar lander award

Bezos sure is creative in his interpretation of "fair competition". Here are some of my favorites: 1) Amazon gained a substantial advantage over legacy retailers by side-stepping local sales taxes for years. 2) Amazon used its monopolistic power to monitor vendor sales data, identify key...

    Today’s Firefox 91 release adds new site-wide cookie-clearing action

Anyone have advice for achieving the same result in Edge? Edit: OK, I get the "what kind of idiot uses Edge?" and "download firefox" comments ... but I asked this question in earnest. Does no one else have their browsers dictated by their employer?

Federal Fire Fighting commission agrees to progressive legislation to put out 50% of new small to mid-sized fires by 2030. Existing blazes will be left to burn out on their own. Water stations to support the firefighting efforts are also not fully funded. Progress!

How to go from stolen PC to network intrusion in 30 minutes

Great writeup! Not a security professional, but I wonder if this kind of attack can work on CPUs with TPMs built in. I know my PC has a Ryzen 5 with a TPM on board. In this case, I would assume they can't patch into the TPM or CMOS wires. Is this correct? I also understand that enterprise...

YouTube’s “Premium Lite” trial offers ad-free YouTube for $7 a month

As someone who watches >2 hours of video on YouTube per day across multiple devices, this is absolutely worth it for me. I also don't have a Spotify subscription, so the US plan including YouTube music works really well for me. If I was someone who isn't on YouTube for hours each day, I...
