That shows Q4/2019 sales. Here's Q1/2020. Android picked up a bit more tablet share (via Samsung and Amazon).... https://finance.yahoo.com/news/worldwid ... 00617.html

Half of Americans won’t trust contact-tracing apps, new poll finds

^The CDC should've at least said to use home-made face coverings. Reduces chances of those who have it to spread.

Half of Americans won’t trust contact-tracing apps, new poll finds

Agree that masks/face coverings should be a minimum requirement but many have been programmed by the CDC originally saying they shouldn't be used even when Asian virus experts were baffled by the CDC call. More testing is needed but face masks as a requirement even moreso.

Broadband speeds fall in dozens of big US cities during pandemic

We have so many ISPs in Kansas City that have capacity to offer high speeds (some areas have 3-4 options) that the chances are low that any one ISP is nearing capacity. /neener-neener

Coronavirus spread in US: Not if, but when and how severe, CDC says

The death rate is at least 20 times higher than flu but if the infection rate of COVID19 doesn't exceed 1/20th of flu only then could we say it was an overreaction. More concerning is if this lasts beyond spring but ever more concerning if it morphs into something else for next season.

Google Fiber kills TV service, focuses on broadband and YouTube TV

Kind of odd that Google is promoting Fubo along with YTTV. Is Fubo paying? Otherwise would expect GFBR to mention all LiveTV services. I have GFBR Internet only (KC) and don't see a YTTV or Fubo option in the Change Plan or Add Streaming services pages. Apparently you signup separately with...

Yeah, figured that. And it's Missoureee! Many of the rural Trumpians say Missourah. I don't get it, do they say Mississippah?

Tracking the future of remote workplaces: Apps, communication, and liability

Have been doing this for years as well as working with others doing it. It is important to get out of the house, like coffeeshops/libraries and other places I brought up in other posts. Can always go into office to interact as needed if able to. And my relationship with partner has actually...

Tracking the future of remote workplaces: Apps, communication, and liability

Missouri of course. Downtown is pretty doable now for digital hobos with free streetcar, plenty of coffeeshops w/cubby holes for calls, good urban library converted old bank building w/free conf room reservations, decent city market with ethnic counter eats, foodie halls, old buildings...

Performance-oriented “Pro” mode for Macs found in latest macOS beta

Yeah figured 5-6 dedicated for a year would do it. But they could throw 50m at it and still pocket change.

Performance-oriented “Pro” mode for Macs found in latest macOS beta

One advantage of Apple being proprietary is that the OS is supposed to be better tuned to the hardware. Is the case with iOS but not with MacOS. Curios that Linux on older hardware can outperform despite such a wide range of hardware. Apple should throw a couple $million at optimizing MacOS...

Early Pixel 4a renders show off slim-bezel design, hole-punch display

Android quantifiably has improved, especially under the hood. I have Android 10 running on a 2013 Nexus 7 with 2GB RAM and 32bit CPU. It performs better than any previous flavor of Android, more efficient with each release. Is a perfectly usable tablet. My iPad Mini isn't as usable anymore...

5G deployment stands ready to supercharge the Internet of Things

Yeah and for consumer wearables, I'd rather them be bluetooth based to my phone rather than have to pay a carrier for every wearable connected. I almost always have my phone with me unless forgetting it, maybe just a couple times a year. Cell-based wearables may have their place though with...

Report: Apple is developing satellites so the iPhone can skip wireless carriers

Makes more sense to startup an MVNO than build own physical network. But yeah, with a level of end-to-end isolation that Apple has control of.

5G deployment stands ready to supercharge the Internet of Things

Yeah and carriers should not be charging more for 5G (mobile). It's simply an evolution, not a revolution. 5G upgrades should be considered typical operational capacity upgrades, not some kind of new revolutionary technology. The hype is an attempt at a money grab to pay for what should be...
