The 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport is how America likes its hatchbacks

Ayyyy a fellow Pittsburghian! I have a '16 Golf that I'll be finishing my payments on soon, I've had my eye on a SE Tiguan. Oddly enough I had issues with my older Mazda 3, too. Good to know it's working out for you. Beware the Tunnel Monster.

Ahhhh OK. You're right. 802.11a is a sad story, getting beat to the punch by it's little brother 802.11b. Thanks!

Jim is quickly becoming my favorite Arsian, keep the network articles flowing please :D Small nitpick: 802.11a was using 5 GHz back in 1999. Now get off my lawn.

    2019 16 Inch MacBook Pro

Can confirm the same is happening to me on a 2019 13" 2 TB3 model. Makes me think it's software. Same issue happened to me in the past on Windows boxes and was usually solved with a driver update.

    Ubiquiti setup help

Ooooh, yeah, this is another option. It's worth some testing at least. I use a free app called NetSpot for signal strength testing, and iperf for speed tests. Hang some APs and do some surveying. :p

+1 for LR AP's not being worth it. As for the AC mesh vs AC mesh Pro, here's a good video. Looks like you should be fine with the distance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_LRCnQXa8M Data sheet comparing the two: http://dl.ui.com/datasheets/unifi/UniFi_AC_Mesh_DS.pdf The Pro has slightly...

Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 865 is 25% faster, comes with mandatory 5G

Oh, my mistake. I misinterpreted your comment. I thought you were arguing that The X55/SD865 combination was considered one product. Don't comment before coffee, kids.

Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 865 is 25% faster, comes with mandatory 5G

Did you read the article? "The bad news is that 5G is still not integrated this year in the Snapdragon 865 and will require the separate Snapdragon X55 chip that was announced in February. The even worse news is that Qualcomm is really leveraging its monopoly power this year and forcing all...

Old iMac slowdown - SSD time?

+1 I'd also avoid anything using QLC, no matter the brand. That includes Intel's 660p and 665p, Samsung's 860 QVO, etc.

    2019 16 Inch MacBook Pro

The MacBook Air doesn't have a touchbar, although it doesn't have much power. And there's always the kludgy solution of external keyboards/docking stations. Unfortunately Apple doesn't optimize for real Fkeys on their modern laptops. :(

Old iMac slowdown - SSD time?

Yes, SATA III drives will work at II speeds. OWC still sells SATA II drives https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/ssd/owc/imac/early-2009, but you're probably better off just spending the same amount on a SATA III drive. Especially if you plan on harvesting it from the iMac down the line. I've had...
