The new MacBook: I hope you like dongles

As an Air user (not a casual one: I use mine for programming and such), I'd be happy with it. One hub on just one side rather than four different connections on two sides (display, hub, power, ext. HDD) would be neater.

The new MacBook: I hope you like dongles

I find that my Air plus dongles is still more portable than something thicker and heavier. I expect the same to be true of this, too.

If you skipped Windows 8, here’s some new stuff you get with Windows 10

Windows Explorer got the ribbon interface in Win8 too, and it's actually a massive improvement. Makes it much easier to find features.

Apple removing guns in iOS App Store promo screenshots

Perhaps it's as a courtesy to people who've suffered violence or something, I don't know. Or perhaps it's for consistency: if you can't show 17+ content in an app without requiring parental permission, then you shouldn't be able to see 17+ content in app store screenshots. EDIT: Ah, turns out...

Mt. Gox’s parent company files for bankruptcy

It amuses me that the https://www.tibanne.com/ homepage still says they're hiring. But I suppose Mr. Karpelès has more important matters to worry about just now than merely fixing a website.

Blizzard releases Warcraft III content for use by Starcraft II modders

Would people playing those mods need Warcraft III? Presumably not?

Homeland Security nabs $19.5 million in “unsafe” NFL fan gear

Not quite: the factories producing goods officially at least have to abide by Chinese labour law.

Homeland Security nabs $19.5 million in “unsafe” NFL fan gear

Depending on the fake, it's either really crappy, or made to exactly the same specifications and indistinguishable. So it's hard to say whether it's unsafe or not.

Exploit allows 3DS to run arbitrary Game Boy ROMs

I imagine licensing plays a role: for Nintendo games this is easy, but there must be a lot of negotiations with publishers for 3rd-party titles. Also bear in mind that many Nintendo games aren't truly 1st-party, they're 2nd-party (though I assume Nintendo would own the rights in those cases...)...

Wii U sales are starting to slowly recover, except in Japan

Was that supposed to be "it's sold"? I had trouble parsing that.

How dating app Grindr makes it easy to stalk 5 million gay men

Godwin's Law doesn't really apply for legitimate comparisons to the Third Reich, and this is one of those.

Hotline Miami 2 blocked from sale in Australia over implied rape scene

I don't really see what's so objectionable about blocking a rather crass rape scene.

Hotline Miami 2 blocked from sale in Australia over implied rape scene

That's almost reasonable. I can't believe it, the Australian censorship board makes a somewhat reasonable decision? Has hell frozen over?

FBI defends “ruse” of undercover agents posing as hotel’s cable guys

If the Government can legally bug my house by posing as an electrician, surely I can legally rob someone's house by posing as a plumber? Oh wait, I forgot. One set of rules for them, another for us.

Will this be plagued by the same issues as the previous process?

MPAA, movie theaters announce “zero tolerance” policy against wearables

Well, that's perfectly reasonable. And good for people watching: if you're busy on your Google Glass, you're not watching the movie!

Feds examining medical devices for fatal cybersecurity flaws

<inb4 conspiracy theory about NSA murdering elderly dissidents> In all seriousness, sounds like a good idea. These things seriously need more scrutiny than they get.

Obama signs “BuySecure” initiative to speed EMV adoption in the US

Not at all: Chip and PIN is flawed, certainly, but it at least requires authentication. I'm not sure if that's snark or serious.

Obama signs “BuySecure” initiative to speed EMV adoption in the US

Good to see the US is slowly catching up to where Europe's been for a long time. Well, it would make sense to do both at once.
