    Looks to me that one potentially overlooked benefit is simply assigning fewer lanes to devices and simplifying board design. So things like a NVME SSD could use one or two lanes instead of four.

    Too bad that profits are getting in the way of adapting the vaccines for current variants. An optimized formulation for Beta/Delta/Gamma/Omicron would help a lot right now. But would also mean spending a bit more on testing and approval - why do that when you can sell more of the previous one?
