Time Warner Cable's cure for the TV/cable wars

Well, I personally think that leaving the market is a viable alternative (so I voted)... especially since cable companies self-compete with their internet connections. Hulu/iTunes/Netflix was just too attractive an alternative.

Time Warner Cable's cure for the TV/cable wars

I would like ala-carte access to any channel through streaming services. That would be a free market. The cable companies need to understand that they are no longer the single point of distribution for video content in the world; they are data pipe owners/managers.

Browser ballot already hurting Internet Explorer market shar

How does this "justify" the claims of the smaller 7 browsers? Maybe if they wrote their own browser (or rendering engine) and gained market share by hard work and marketing ingenuity rather than building an electronic fuzzy seat-cover and expecting the government to give them free business...

Family of four gets their genomes sequenced

name99 -- I think most recent research has included "noncoding" regions in their studies; I recently was at a presentation concerning SNPs in enhancer circuits and it's affect on cis-regulatory networks. Obviously, subverting the control mechanism won't change the shape of the downstream...

Family of four gets their genomes sequenced

Shuggy -- I'd say that there are people out there getting their sequences now; as the price goes down the number will only increase. As for the privacy issue -- this is one of the things that the Personal Genome Project seeks to find out :-) I don't have a Science XPress account (can only see...

Panda genome completed using short-read sequencing

Has anyone here used DGI-SOAP? How does it deal with repeat-rich regions? I'm mainly thinking of the difficulties of reproducing accurate total length in a long series of short repeats when you've only got a reading frame of ~50 bases.

Let's talk about sex... in video games

The fact is that the United States is still fighting its Puritan roots. If people would just RELAX when it came to sex, everyone's life would be much more enjoyable.

Treating sex as a taboo subject only reinforces the likelihood that the act will take place in an unsafe setting / way.
