Gaming CEO ousted after tweeting he’s “proud” to support Texas abortion ban

Maybe firing the guy was a reasonable business decision they were forced to make. Maybe the problem lies with other people demanding boycotts due to wrongthink.

Europe’s July floods: So rare and extreme, they’re hard to study

Absolutely not. Blatant and obvious lies will do nothing to change the opinions of those who are not already concerned by climate change.

Most of the power sector’s emissions come from a small minority of plants

But the energy isn’t renewable, it’s from coal, that’s the point of the article. To remove coal from the grid we need to reduce power consumption, not increase it. And we need to especially reduce it at night, which is to say the base load.

Sorry, no. We need those plants to provide cheap electric car charging at night.

Electric cars have much lower life cycle emissions, new study confirms

Please realize that auto makers went from shunning the electric car because they couldn’t make money from them to loving them because people without education in physics have greenwashed them, which makes sure the auto makers can survive even when marginal power production is from coal. The only...

Electric cars have much lower life cycle emissions, new study confirms

    1) Because that’s the alternate analysis in question. If you are considering whether to toast or not, the toasting is also 100% carbon based. This is true for anything until the marginal production is not from carbon. The same applies to energy saving activities, like heat pumps. 2) New demand...

Electric cars have much lower life cycle emissions, new study confirms

The grid will be carbon neutral at the exact same time no matter how much energy we use? Peak or not does not matter too much. At peak, marginal generation is usually fossil gas, which has a lower footprint than coal. But charging is supposed to happen off peak, at which coal is the marginal...

Electric cars have much lower life cycle emissions, new study confirms

This report is based on wildly unrealistic numbers for power generation. The electricity mix will not be the same regardless of use of battery electric vehicles. Rather, the marginal production of power to charge them will always be fossil based, because using more power in off peak hours will...

Toyota bet wrong on EVs, so now it’s lobbying to slow the transition

That works for early adopters, but no existing grid supports everyone converting over a short period of time. In that way, BEVs have a reverse bootstrap problem. That doesn’t mean it isn’t the right way to go, it just means it isn’t as simple as everyone plugging in.

Toyota bet wrong on EVs, so now it’s lobbying to slow the transition

Sorry, I meant 2MWh naturally. I shouldn’t do conversion in my head after midnight. Do you have an answer though?

Toyota bet wrong on EVs, so now it’s lobbying to slow the transition

Can anyone explain why electricity “mix” is important, and not the marginal production? If I decide to buy an EV and pull 2GWh off the grid the next 12 months, I want to know the origin of the marginal production increase required. I will consider that my foot print. Edit: 2MWh of course 🙄

Planes, trains, but not automobiles—why GM is developing fuel cells

Pretty much like how we are marginally producing electricity for battery cars by burning coal in power plants then, really. Charging at night when prices are low and coal bound.

This Swedish carbon fiber battery could revolutionize car design

This is already the case for electric cars under warranty. The manufacturer won’t certify repairs to batteries, instead demanding complete replacements. Since those batteries don’t lower fleet emissions when used as replacements, they are not subsidized, and become extremely expensive, leading...

New York lawmaker wants to ban police use of armed robots

If that was true, then none of this would matter. But you now that’s just false hyperbole that you say because you think it makes you sound cool and justified in your fake anger. And it does not contribute, sorry.
