Dune 2021 film review: The spice must flow, but then it stops abruptly

no great answer. they have had speed of light travel for awhile, safe speed of light travel is something spice provides with navigators. later in the books it's not just speed of light travel, it becomes space folding, so whatever. best not to think of it.

Theranos devices ran “demo apps” that blocked error messages during investor pitches

wonder how many scientists at other companies had to endure accusations of being incompetent due to Theranos' claims. "these people can do it, why can't you."

Before the new version, let’s revisit 1984’s Dune—the greatest movie ever made

answered previously but i love talking Dune. they didn't want to do space kung-fu which the book does. and keep in mind the book spends one second talking about this and is never brought up again. because in Dune, the sci-fi stuff is unimportant, it's just there to give flavor to Herbert's...

Apple intros 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros with display notches, M1 Pro and M1 Max

They were always apps on the Mac. Because the App Store became popular other people became accustomed to Mac parlance. When Windows started up they went with “programs” instead for their nomenclature.

right, so it's not about the vaccine. it's trying to appeal to a certain demographic for whatever reason. probably trying to raise funds in the name of a fight.

Before the new version, let’s revisit 1984’s Dune—the greatest movie ever made

if i remember correctly Ebert was of the opinion the info dumps/exposition of the film was too much work for him to get into the movie. i can see a person coming to that conclusion, but for my 14 year old self i wanted more. tell me about everything going on in this universe. if you buy in...

Before the new version, let’s revisit 1984’s Dune—the greatest movie ever made

Whoa. This is wrong, navigators do indeed fold space. Space folding is brought up in the last 3 books as how the guild operates. I’d like to point out Frank Herbert worked on the original script for the movie as well. In the first Dune book Herbert talked about speed light travel then changed...

Yeah it’s all there, the movie is certainly not lacking in exposition, there are TONS of exposition explaining everything.

Before the new version, let’s revisit 1984’s Dune—the greatest movie ever made

Was able to see Dune 2021 at NYFF, preferred the ‘84 version. There was just so much filler, cutting out some things I wanted to see for things I felt were unnecessary. Felt if he borrowed some ideas from Lynch’s he could have made a better product. Mentat lore is absent from the film, unless...

Before the new version, let’s revisit 1984’s Dune—the greatest movie ever made

They didn’t want to do space kung-fu. All that needs to happen is for the ousted Atredies to provide some value for the Fremen. Modules or kung-fu doesn’t matter. Considering action of the time period modules were probably a better choice. And as always in Dune, the sci-fi mumbo jumbo does not...

Robert Pattinson broods and batters his way through new The Batman trailer

Why does it need continuity? I don’t get the problem but maybe for milking money out of a franchise. Never needed continuity in graphic novels don’t know why I need them in film.
