Not the government America deserves, but the one it voted for.

Tor privacy service used in a majority of onlike bank heists, report says

I do all my private traffic either through VPN or TOR and have had nary a hickup or query from any of my banking institutions about it. I think the only "security" related query came from a 2 factor authentication site that did not like TOR.

Uber launches in Portland as city prepares to issue fines to drivers

I don't know the correct answer to lobbying, but the system is totally broken. CA is a prime example of where popular vote doesen't work since their constitution has been changed 500 times since its inception. It would be nice if we actually had informed citizen politicians looking out for the...

Uber launches in Portland as city prepares to issue fines to drivers

Most Ars commentors are not Libertarian especially when you see how the downvotes turn up. I myself align with that particular group. I just prefer to use the term leftist to liberal because I feel the name was hijacked.

Uber launches in Portland as city prepares to issue fines to drivers

Likely hundreds. But there are hundreds of fares daily in San Diego (my home city) on Tuesday, Thursday-Sunday. It's likely similar in other major cities.

Uber launches in Portland as city prepares to issue fines to drivers

There are a lot of bogus laws on the books, a good deal of them can safely be ignored for the good of all. Way to pick the one that actually deprives someone of their right to live. Try one that the huge mass of the Leftist population of Ars can get behind, like smoking pot. A good deal of...

County sheriff finally gets the drone he wanted, ignores privacy concerns

You mean a Stingray? If you are going for the hysterical sarcastic approach, at least name the equipment correctly.

Uber launches in Portland as city prepares to issue fines to drivers

Based on how crooked and antiquated the Taxi industry is, I would not claim to be them either. Broken system is broken, they are creating new ways around it to support the demand of people and make money. Governments propping up aging and dying industries needs to end.

Australian Target stores stop selling GTA V in wake of sex worker petition

When did Australia start turning super liberal? It seems a lot of their policies of the past few years are radically different from the perspective of the people I have interacted with in the various cities in Aus that I have visited.

UK to implement 25 percent “Google tax”

Should call it the "Apple Tax" since Apple created the practice originally. But realistically, won't this just have Google et al. close their offices in the UK and move them to more tax friendly haven such as Ireland (18%) Cyprus (12.5%) or Malta (6.25%)?

NTSB blames bad battery design—and bad management—in Boeing 787 fires

If you want something done right, do it yourself. I wonder what the overall cost increase would have been per aircraft to build entirely in house in Everett(where they assemble them) in lieu of using 13 different contractors.

Sony Pictures hack gets uglier; North Korea won’t deny responsibility

De Luca was snapped up as a former president of New Line. Minghella was has a creative background working more hands on with development, I am willing to bet De Luca gets paid more because they had to pry a little harder to snap him up and he had more to offer. Sometimes you just hire a female...

Kim Dotcom beats US bid to get him thrown back in jail

Sadly, I think the only way the system in the US is going to get fixed, is when the Fed up masses break out the pitch forks. And I don't see a down side to a bunch of dead Hollywood execs. Sad that I'm finally that jaded.

Europe’s parliament “poised to call for a break-up of Google”

I will concede your first point to you. Second, I have a Masters of Art History from Sorbonne and did my thesis on the handing of Art by the Nazi's during WWII, so your generalization of me based on my two second rant is amusing, I likely have a better understanding of the history and...

FCC to prevent phone companies from screwing over copper customers

See, you are taking my meaning to the extreme. I'm not saying people need to be 100% self sufficient for a month. But I know people who have nothing in their homes to last them 2 days. That's retarded.
