Star Citizen’s "Arena Commander" dogfighting hits 1.0 release milestone

For some reason the Robertsspaceindustries site is not loading at work, anyone have a link to the ships and their costs that is not the native website? This sounds intriguing to me and I'd like to drool while working. Thank you greatly. ~ Edit: Google is failing me, I found a 5k ship and a...

How Hollywood, spurned by Congress, pressures states to attack Google

Ugh, it is so disgusting to see how suborned politicians are these days. Should just let some military goon roam around the country with that list of bought AG's and be like. "Guilty" *BAM*, next state "Guilty" *BAM*...

Activist group sues San Diego Police Department over “stingray” records

I can actually speak on almost all of this. And as for IMSI catchers(SIGINT gear) the old ones jammed signal, the current generation that LEA has (still not current generation by military standards) put out a stronger signal than the nearest tower, which your phone automatically jumps to. Then...

100Mbps Internet available to 59% of US, while gigabit still at just 3%

That 3% sounds about right, my family owns a huge farm in "rural" southern CA, and they have dialup and cell available.. And the only reason they have cell is because one of the mountains they own has an ATT cell tower on it, and ATT pays them some huge amount to keep it on their property (like...

Copyright troll Paul Hansmeier now sues small businesses over ADA violations

Easier to find him in a dark alley, put 6 rounds in his head from a revolver, melt the revolver with brass casings still in the cylinder with an acetylene torch and toss the cooled puck into the ocean. World a better place.

Spanish publishers move to halt Google News closure

Takes Spain longer to pass a law than it would for Google to shutter the service.

Judge says reporter can’t get public records about cops’ “stingray” use

Detected does not mean identified as so and so. They will almost always be able to hoover your IMEI/IMSI but if they don't know its you, they can't track it. Real time call chaining is outside the realm of what state/local can do, it's veeeeeeeeery hard for even NSA to do it.

Judge says reporter can’t get public records about cops’ “stingray” use

Guess the United States was founded by terrorists then.

Judge says reporter can’t get public records about cops’ “stingray” use

That's not how they work. When you fire up a stingray, it's power is higher than the nearest tower so every phone registers to it. The device itself does not keep any of the actual information, it basically outputs it directly to a computer where you build your database (comes out in an Excel...

Judge says reporter can’t get public records about cops’ “stingray” use

Would do nothing for location, and phone calls, and hell even the secure texting is sent in the plain over the air, it just becomes encrypted when it hits the other users end. You want to defeat stingrays? Buy 400 pre paid cell phones and use them only once. The 'bad guys' overseas swap...

Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition gets Lollipop, completing the GPE rollout

Closest would be to flash an AOSP clone onto it, something like http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-orig-develop/rom-cyanogenmod-12-t2943934

Supreme Court of Canada: Cops can search your phone upon arrest

The California crime of destroying or concealing evidence is a misdemeanor. The maximum penalty is up to six (6) months in county jail, a fine of up to one thousand dollars ($1,000), or both. Quick example of the penalty for that. I am totally cool with a light misdemeanor to dodge a felony...

US Navy approves first laser weapon for operation aboard Persian gulf ship

I am confused how the Navy just approved the laser that they installed on board PONCE in August? Or is approval to install for testing different than approval to keep installed for live fire?

Amazon.com warehouse employees hosed by Supreme Court

They would all be promptly fired, and another agency brought into take their jobs. There are no shortage of "menial" workers in the areas these warehouses are and another agency would LOVE to have the contract to provide labor.

Windows 8’s Xbox Music app gets a bit friendlier to pirated videos

I know your post is /s but I actually did just buy an external BluRay for my new laptop. It was like 30 bucks more than a standard and I said what the hell, it's nice to have capability.
