Amazon secretly slowed deliveries, deceived anyone who complained, lawsuit says

I wasn't trying to imply they can't make their own decision. Everyone is free to make their own decisions whether they be good or bad. My main justification for not getting Prime for the free shipping was purely based on my orders from there usually being above the $25 threshold which warrants...

Amazon secretly slowed deliveries, deceived anyone who complained, lawsuit says

Thanks. That makes a little more sense to me at $7/mo. Still wouldn't subscribe to it, but I can see how that makes it more tempting for some folks... even just for the streaming services.

Amazon secretly slowed deliveries, deceived anyone who complained, lawsuit says

How do folks in a low income neighborhood justify having a Prime subscription? Honestly curious because I don't live in a neighborhood like that yet still don't subscribe to Prime. $15/mo always seemed like a waste of money to get packages a little earlier and access to some other meh perks.

Gun violence is the top killer of US kids—the pandemic made it worse

What's odd about the CDC stats: (Of the 1171 between the ages of 5-17 in the year 2020) 2.6% Rifle/Shotgun and large rifle discharge 6.7% Handgun discharge 90.7% Unspecified Firearm discharge What would unspecific firearm discharge be?

Coinbase sued by Wallet users scammed out of $21M in crypto

Something I learned long ago... Always advertise to the customers your weakest abilities as your strongest. If a company advertises they have the best security - they don't If a company advertises they have the cheapest service - they don't If a company advertises they save the most lives -...

Biden pardons all federal simple marijuana possession offenses

Something that feels like it is being ignored... Military falls under Federal law. Weed has been something proven to help with PTSD, but can't be administered because of it's classification. If you are out of the military and have a severe case of PTSD (Legit), you are not allowed to take...

Modular Panasonic Toughbook has 8 replaceable parts, 1,200-nit screen

I run a shop that maintains about 500 toughbooks. I literally just stripped down the CF-31 model yesterday to see how things worked and why it was considered "tough". I was not impressed... Pros: I think the IP66 is solid. (How water resistant this device is) Cell Antenna route up through the...

SpaceX gets $886 million from FCC to subsidize Starlink in 35 states

There are areas in Alaska that have rules preventing even local AK ISP's from feeding on the local ISP's clients. GCI/ACS can't step foot in those towns, so I suspect the same would apply to SpaceX. You're right though, there is a massive amount of federal funding going into rural broadband in...

Trump administration forces Facebook and Google to drop Hong Kong cable

Data flows both ways and can be cutoff at any time by either side. This seems like a way to slap China at the expense of commerce.

Amazon follows SpaceX into satellite broadband, asks FCC to OK launch plan

I'll be curious to see if there ends up being trade secret scandals in the near future due to Rajeev Badyal coming from SpaceX. Much like the Uber/Waymo debacle.

Report: Geothermal could power up to 16% of US grid by 2050

I'd like to add that geothermal split systems (heat pumps) rely on steady temperatures. Cold and Hot are relative terms to the gases used in them. Split systems had a rough time competing with electric, gas etc until about a decade ago. They've become so efficient now that everyone in the US can...
