I had the same problem when I bought my new iPhone XS. I could hardly make it through a day. Turned off background app refresh and everything was back to normal. I haven't noticed a decrease in functionality at all since turning it off either. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's in perfect condition. Hardly a spec of dust on it. Used it for gaming, mostly Destiny 2 and didn't play it all that much at all. Pretty sure I still have the original box etc.
