LulzSec manifesto: "We screw each other over for a jolt of satisfaction"

Sure, the internet might forget about them in three months, but depending on how much damage they do, the authorities won't have such a short memory.

Why can't we have a Shadowrun RPG/MMO already?

What I wouldn't give for a modern, competent Syndicate game. Hell, just a graphics update so that I can run it at 1920x1080 would be enough. There are rumors of a Syndicate game in the works that's going to be a "reinvention". Which means that it will suck.

Adobe CS2 disc borrow desparately required!

I'm pretty sure Adobe will replace your media for a nominal price - most companies that sell expensive software packages will. Give them a call.

Need help connecting audio - Mac mini to Sony Bravia

As far as adapters and whatnot go, I have a Macbook Pro and I use a Male->Female mini TOSLINK to TOSLINK adapter, then a 35' standard TOSLINK cable to go to my receiver and it works without a hitch. When you hook it up to your Mac, the Sound Control Panel should have 'Digital Out' and 'Optical...

    ++ for Outlaw Audio's support

Just wanted to take a minute to post about a positive experience with some gear that people here are sometimes pointed to when they seek advice on building their home theater setups. I have an Outlaw LFM-1 Plus subwoofer, which I might add, is ridiculously overkill for my 20'x15'x8' home...

Video review of Fractal Design's new "Arc" midtower

That stuff looks like Plastisol - you would end up with a vinyl coating that would be roughly as thick as the cable's own plastic sheath. I'm sure some formulation of it somewhere could stick to plastic, but I don't think you'd get very good results. Let us know ;)

Say hello to the touch-screen console: WiiU coming in 2012

I'm pretty sure I read this exact same comment thread when the Wii was announced.

Help me piece together a new home theater set up

I say that you have to have a pretty complex setup to justify the Logitech remote. I recently got a Harmony One, and to be honest, I don't really like it that much. Compared to having to use 3 remotes to drive my AV gear and a keyboard and mouse to navigate XBMC on my HTPC? Yeah, it's awesome...

    Recommend Wireless Headsets

I have one; I've been using it a little over a month now. I don't put any sound other than my TeamSpeak feed through them, then I route the rest of my sound out the HDMI to my surround sound setup (this is a living room HTPC/game PC setup, so sitting far enough away from a 58" plasma to not burn...

    HTPC Advice

Have you tried messing around with any of the settings in the nVidia control panels (can't remember what it's called... been a while since I had a nvidia card)? There could be poor 64-bit driver support for any number of oddball options in there. Whenever I have problems like that, I always...

Grad student: Considering buying a house.

Ironically, when I was presented with anecdotes while I was in house buying mode, I countered with data on why this was such a good idea. Nobody pointed out that hard data for midnight crawl space adventures is somewhat difficult to come by and anecdotes are all we have ;)

Grad student: Considering buying a house.

Yeah, this is a bad idea. It doesn't sound like that's going to stop you though. I was in a similar situation, but I really wanted a house for a lot of the reasons you've mentioned, and I just kind of did it anyways. Turns out it was a bad idea. If you go back and read what you've said (and a...

USB to HDMI 1080p for Video? Last piece to the puzzle!

You want something like this: http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/dh2go/ I think the Matrox solution is about as eloquent as it gets, but for less money, you could find a a simple HDMI or Displayport splitter to turn your one output into two, and then use an adapter as appropriate...

Just got my Dream Work @ Home editing job! Office A/V Setup Advice?

If you need pro-quality headphone work done while you're on the go then yeah, I agree - keep in mind that the output doubles as an optical output with a ~$2 adapter, so you can easily bypass the crappy built in headphone amp when you're hooked into your stationary rig.
